OK, this is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY of the subject of metal, but I figure what the hell.

Right now I am listening the latest cd by David Gray, Live in Slow Motion. I know not many people listen to just one type of music. Most people, I would assume, have a variety of tastes. I know I do. I love David Gray's music. So relaxing, so beautiful, so melodic. This new cd is incredible. Expecially after his last one, A New Day at Midnight, which was slightly disappointing.

Does anybody else enjoy the music of David Gray? Anybody want to share what other types of music they listen to? Any specific artists? Come on, you know you are out there......

Ok... here goes:

1. For some reason, I've always enjoyed a few of the Duran Duran albums... ouch..

2. Lynard Skynrd (spelling)

3. Shark Island (80's LA bases hard rock... kind of sappy... but I've always like their album)

More later

Duran Duran is pretty cool.  I grew up listening to a lot of cheesy 80's pop and new wave before I discovered hard rock and heavy metal.

Skynnard (sp?) is decent.  I like a few of their songs.  The Allman Brothers Band is a similiar style and I used to listen to them constantly.  Love the southern blues style.

Actually, the only style of music I do not enjoy is country, although the Allman Brothers get pretty close.  And the only rap I listen to is the Beastie Boys.  Still listen to the blues quite a bit, classic rock (got my screen name from the Hendrix tune Voodoo Chile (slight return), 80's pop and new wave (New Order, Depeche Mode, etc).  I try to experience as much of a variety of music as possible so I don't miss out on anything good.

Here are a couple of simple straight up rock bands that I really enjoy...

Broken Teeth : http://www.brokenteeth.com
PoDunk : http://www.podunkrocks.com

They are both Austin, TX based bands...

Broken Teeth does Old School AC/DC better than AC/DC currently does... and PoDunk's 2002 album is rocky blues (great vocalist)...

Check em out!!

Yeah, it is a cool name... Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys / WatchTower) does the vocals for this band... very fun stuff...

Let me know what you think... There are a few downloads on their site (I should know... I do the website)...

Checking out the site now. Pretty nicely done. Great write-up by KNAC. Had no idea the names in this band. Granted, it ain't Ozzy or Lemmy fronting the band, but they are no slouches, that's for sure. There is a good pedigree.

Good blues-based raucous rock and f'n roll. Rough and dirty, everything a good ole rock band should be. Sounds like something I would hear in a smokey bar while shooting some stick underneath bad lighting. I like it. It's a good break from clean, polished vocals and blistering guitar solos, or the grunt and growl of a death metal band.

I could see adding a cd or 2 to my collection in the future.
