This is a big laptop (17") and weighs in at about 8lbs.
Thoughts?

jesus... talk about obbsesive  the only thing I would change is, the proccesor, at least 2.0 gigs, and downgrade the video card, as well for a harddrive, dont bother going higher than a 40, make a second rig (desktop) with a 500gig harddrive in it for data/porn... laptops aren't made to reliably hold yo shit

| I hear you on the video card and hard drive... BUT... this will be my main / travelling machine.. and I want to have all my mp3's on the system (and video card on this particular model is not downgradable). Still researching.. Thinking of a smaller / lighter system as well.. Can't decide.

whats your budget?Right around $2,000. I've configured some Dell's and Alienware laptops as well... Features are all pretty similar though.
