I'm looking at buying the following laptop:

HP DV8000T

Windows XP Pro
Intel Core Duo processor @ 1.83Ghz
17" WSXGA Brightview display (1680x1050)
256MB NVidia GeForce 7400 video card
2GB DDR2 SDRAM
100GB (7200rpm) SATA Hard Disk
DVD+/-RW/R CD-RW drive with Double Layer
Intel Pro Wireless 3945 abg
Bluetooth
6 in 1 Media Reader

This is a big laptop (17") and weighs in at about 8lbs.

Thoughts?

jesus... talk about obbsesive the only thing I would change is, the proccesor, at least 2.0 gigs, and downgrade the video card, as well for a harddrive, dont bother going higher than a 40, make a second rig (desktop) with a 500gig harddrive in it for data/porn... laptops aren't made to reliably hold yo shit

I hear you on the video card and hard drive... BUT... this will be my main / travelling machine.. and I want to have all my mp3's on the system (and video card on this particular model is not downgradable).

Still researching..

Thinking of a smaller / lighter system as well..  Can't decide.

Mr.Smurf (4/15/2006)
whats your budget?

Right around $2,000.  I've configured some Dell's and Alienware laptops as well...  Features are all pretty similar though.
