So this is a day late, but I have a note from my mother saying that it's OK.    Hopefully I can get back on track for the next one.  So, without any further delay, here are this installments questions:

  1. Favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album.
  2. Favorite cover song.
  3. A really good cover song that you think no one else has heard.
  4. The earliest song you can remember listening to.
  5. The song that has the most memories associated with it, good or bad.

Good luck folks!  I expect some interesting answers with this one.

  1. Favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album. Leaving Here by Pearl Jam.  It was originally done by The Who for a compilation where the procedes go to saving the Earth.  I wish I could remember the name of it.  Used to  have the cd but it was stolen.
  2. Favorite cover song.  I guess I could say the same song as above, but I also really like the Scorpions version of Can't Explain (also by The Who.  I see a pattern!).  Maybe Paranoid by Megadeth.  Or Astronomy by Metallica (originally Blue Oyster Cult).  Not sure which is the best, they are all pretty good.
  3. A really good cover song that you think no one else has heard.  I was friends with a local Baltimore guitarist name Sam Miller who played in some blues-based rock bands for a while, and also on his own.  I haven't seen him in a few years but he used to do a monsterous version of Voodoo Chile (slight return) by Jimi Hendrix.  He stretched it out for about 12 minutes while incorporating a bunch of other Hendrix songs, the Rolling Stones and some others.  It was an amazing rendition.  He also did a medley of Can't You See by The Marshall Tucker Band and Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers Band.  That guy could play.  I am still amazed he was never discovered and picked up by a more well known band.  He is probable around 50 years old so I think his time has passed.
  4. The earliest song you can remember listening to.  I Want to Hold Your Hand by the Beatles.  My parents had a lot of their records when I was young.
  5. The song that has the most memories associated with it, good or bad.  There are a few.  All Apologies by Nirvana, Don't Follow by Alice in Chains, Jump by Van Halen, Talk Dirty to Me by Poison.  I'm sure that I could think of others but that is enough for now.

  1. Favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album - I'm not sure I've ever owned a non-soundtrack Comp album... he he
  2. Favorite cover song - "Ballroom Blitz" by Krokus
  3. A really good cover song that you think no one else has heard - WatchTower covered Accept's "Run If You Can" (awesome) - I've also heard a bootleg of WatchTower doing Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean"
  4. The earliest song you can remember listening to - When I was little I had a 45 for the song "Electric Avenue" (Eddy Grant).. and I also had a 45 of "I Love A Rainy Night" (Eddie Rabbit)
  5. The song that has the most memories associated with it, good or bad - Shark Island's "Law Of The Order" album (the whole thing).  Especially the songs "Paris Calling", "Shake For Me" & "Read Or Not"

Good Questions - Thanks voodoo!!

  1. Favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album - I'm with Bare on this 1st answer .. i can't for the life of me remember ever having a non-soundtrack album...LOL
  2. Favorite cover song - "Crazy Train" by Ozzy--This is my Favorite song playing live.
  3. A really good cover song that you think no one else has heard - My cover Band does  a medley of classic rock rolle int 1 with Rush's "working man -Zeppelin's "whole lotta love"- Aerosmith"sweet emotion -KISS-"god of Thunder - all mixed into 1 and it ends with working man as the outro...... it's a fun mix ..with all the songs coming together in just the right parts .... about 12 minutes long .It's been a big part of our live show now.
  4. The earliest song you can remember listening to - Kiss-rock and roll all night as far as rock goes...but the very 1st song i ever learned was a Spanish ranchera that my Dad taught me "El rey" from Vicente fernandes.I grew up with musicians in my family and they all played Tejano mostly.I was 5 yrs old and i started playing guitar w\my dad.
  5. The song that has the most memories associated with it, good or bad - I had been in & out of bands thru out high school. And during the summer of my Junior -senior year I decided to get MY own band together and just do things my way ..and the 1st song we ever learned and played was Pretty maids "Future world" .. we even had a great keyboard player and the bassist and lead singer would trade vocals....needless to say it was a great song for that time .Plus it stood out and was a positive start of my music career. That band went on to enjoy great success .Short lived but a great experience without a doubt .

I remeber Watchtower doing those tunes Bare. were u in austin back then ??? and where do you live now ??

That medley your band does sounds mucho cool.  I'd love to hear but there is this little thing called distance, and there is way too much of it between me and you right now.
