I liked Pineapple Express a lot, and I'm not even into weed. It's basically a stoner-action film. There's a lot of shooting and explosions toward the end, which I didn't expect. If you didn't like the trailer, though, I'm not sure you'd enjoy the film. I don't think the trailer was necessarily misleading or a poor selection of scenes.
I really didn't like I Am Legend, mostly because I didn't give 2 shits one way or another about the vamp-zomboloid-creatures because they were very very poorly done CGI. I would've rather just played a video game. I do like Will Smith though, and he was alright in that film. I also went and saw The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and it was pretty terrible, and that is coming from someone that liked the other in the series. Again, lots of lackluster CGI, and most of the "humor" in the movie involves the main characters using a bunch of dumb puns on the fact that after two movies they're Mummy fighting veterans. "Mummies again?" rephrased about 100 different ways. They replaced the main female character with a different actress and she's annoying as hell this time. As for rentals... I watched the Mad Max trilogy and Escape from New York, and yeah, Doomsday is pretty much a hodgepodge of ripoffs from those flims and a few others, but I still enjoyed it.

Josh F. (8/13/2008) As for rentals... I watched Escape from New YorkThis movie is hilariously awesome! The voice Kurt Russell uses throughout the film is priceless.... "Call me, Snake." What is even funnier about this movie is that Escape from Los Angeles, which I believe is a sequel, is essentially the same damn movie. In this movie a chunk of the west coast falls off of California from an earthquake. The government once again ends up using the resulting island as a maximum-security prison. Somehow the president's daughter, or someone along those lines, ends up on the island and Snake Pliskin is sent in once again. Great stuff!

| Issac Hayes (who died the day I watched Escape from NY) is cool in the movie. I've got Escape from LA in my Netflix queue so I'll be watching that one soon. I know it's not nearly as popular, so my expectations for it are a lot lower. I bought the Soundtrack when it came out but never saw the movie.

| I watched Escape from LA and yeah, it's essentially the same plot as Escape from NY. It still had its interesting gonzo moments. I watched a Stephen King movie called Dream Catcher because it had a great cast, but I had heard it was pretty terrible and it definitely was. Horrible script and bad acting from a lot of people I generally like. An indie movie I haven't mentioned on here that I saw a few months ago that I really dug was one called Weirdsville. A bunch of heroin junkies try to stash the body of their dead O.D.'d friend when she is accidentally resurrected by a Satanic cult. It's a very bizarre black comedy that also involves midgets in chainmail wielding medieval weapons. Jake, did you watch that Cemetary Man movie? I was reading about it, and it sounded like something I might like along the lines of Evil Dead and Dead Alive.

Weirdsville is now on my list...you can't go wrong with heroin junkies, midgets, and medieval weapons.

Okay, so I just imdb'd Isaac Hayes because I had no idea he died. The last movie he did was 'Return to Sleepaway Camp' (2008). Does anyone know about this!?! Is this a "Return" to the Sleepaway Camp Massacres?
