It has been a while since I have posted in this thread...

As for new movies, the best one I have seen has been The Dark Knight.  I never thought that anyone would be able to touch Jack Nicholson's portrayal of The Joker, but I was seriously WRONG!  I also love the dark, hopeless sense Christopher Nolan has brought to this new adaptation of Batman.

As for rented movies, the best one I have seen has been Hard Candy.  This movie first came on my radar when reading about 30 Days of Night, because both movies are directed by the same person.  While I enjoyed 30 Days of Night, Hard Candy is a better all-around movie and quite a different film from 30 Days of Night.  It is highly recommended, but if you choose to check it out, don't read anything about it prior to viewing the film.  If that is possible...

As for movie news, I recently read that Kaufman is planning to make a fifth installment of The Toxic Avenger franchise.  While the new installment will most likely never touch the original, as none of the sequels have either, it would at least be cool to see where this next one would go.

I watched Hard Candy when it first came out a couple years ago.  What a great and very disturbing movie.  Same chick that played in Juno - she's an awesome actor.  Definitely a movie worth watching.

recently watched a French horror movie called Inside.  Basically, the movie revolves around a woman's attempt to remove a baby from another woman.

Yeah, she is definitely an exceptionally fine actress.  I checked on her IMDb and she has just recently blown up with new movies coming out, or due to come out, about every two months it seems.  Let's hope she has a knack for picking quality roles... so far, so good.

How much of the movie did you know about going in?  I knew almost nothing and I think I appreciated how the movie progressed even more because of it.

I knew next to nothing as well.  Honestly, I don't recall how I heard about the movie, but I appreciated not knowing much prior to watching it.  The movie is done so well that you feel sympathy for the dude, but then you're reminded of his intentions.

Well I rent a lot of movies and I've seen a few pretty good ones lately... In Bruges was very much better than I thought. The dialogue is exceptionally witty. The Bank Job is another one that exceeded my expectations. I really like Jason Statham and I don't know why since most of his movies are not very good, but yeah, the Bank Job is one of his best.

I am not a huge Will Ferrell fan, but my girlfriend and I went to see Step Brothers because her friend really wanted to. I liked it quite a bit actually. It really earned the R rating, which is a plus. I thought it was a horrible premise but I still laughed a lot.

I also checked out the DVD of Doomsday which was a lot better than I expected. I didn't see it in the theaters or watch the theatrical cut (only the Unrated cut which adds about 5 minutes) but the Unrated was pretty brutal. I've never seen any of the Mad Max movies though, and supposedly Doomsday royally rips off those flicks. So I rented Mad Max and I'm going to see if that changes my opinion of Doomsday any.

Oh, and someone recommended I see Alpha Dog. Fucking horrrrid. Yeah, it has Justin Timberlake and he sucks, but he has been in a few decent flicks and Bruce Willis is in it, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. No... it's terrible. One of the very few movies I've given a .5 out of 5.0 star rating to.

I'm hoping to see newest Mummy and Pineapple Express sometime in the next week or so. I've also been wanting to see The Hulk and Wanted, but haven't gotten around to those.

Quadfather mentioned this movie (Inside) in this thread a few months back so I checked it out. Probably one of the most fucked up movies I've seen.
