| I'm a movie nerd. I usually watch a movie or two each night. I've got Netflix and it rocks! I've been on a Jackie Chan craze of late. Movies I've watched in the last week or so: Memento (hadn't seen it in a while, not nearly as good as I remember) Drunken Master; Project A; Police Story; Police Story 2; Supercop; New Police Story (these are all Jackie Chan flicks) Shogun Assassin
Also went and saw Iron Man in the theaters. It was good, just didn't quite live up to the hype I had heard from other people. I'll probably re-watch the Indiana Jones movies sometime in the next week or so even though the new one looks like crap.

I am a movie nerd as well. Whereas you are on a Jackie Chan kicked at the moment, I am a huge horror fanatic! I am always looking for the next gruesome installment into my collection. Thus far, Inside and Frontier(s) have made it on my purchase list, and I am waiting for the States to receive another supposedly great French horror film: Martyrs.
I ended up watching Dead Alive last night for probably the 15th time since purchasing this staple of the horror genre. I mean, come on, how can you go wrong with a 20+ minute scene involving a lawnmower, loads of zombies, and a three-story monster?

| Dead Alive is a good one. Hard to believe it's by Peter Jackson who did the Lord of the Rings. I watched another one a week or so ago called Teeth. Kinda fucked up. This chick that is all super virgin purist ends up having some sort of mythical beast-teeth in her vagina and she gets raped and vagibites off the dudes wang. Then she turns into a pro-activist that goes around biting weiners off of sleazy dudes. It's totally over the top, but kinda funny. I should be getting Diary of the Dead (the new Romero zombie flick) today from Netflix so I'll let you all know what I think. I've heard it's kind of a rip off of the Cloverfield idea, and I hated that movie, so we'll see... A good recent movie to check out for zombie fans is Fido. It's like a spoof of the wholesome TV Land shows but with zombies. Think Lassie if the dog was actually an undead human.

Queen_Diamond (5/20/2008) Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead: Unrated Directors Cut I typically prefer old school zombies, but this is a great movie. Tom Savini's cameo is incredibly funny. This is a great movie! It is the reason why I am convinced the mall is the perfect place to survive for any long period of time. FYI: a sequel to the original Dawn of the Dead is currently in the works. Apparently the sequel picks up with the survivors of the original on board the helicopter. Josh F. While the plot is no doubt incredibly thin, anything that over-the-top is a must see, IMO. Like another of my personal favorites: Army of Darkness. Campbell and Raimi pour it on throughout that entire film and I love every moment of it. "Groovy!" I can already see this thread causing me to revisit a lot of the horror classics. In fact, I think Re-Animator will do quite well tonight.

We watched Land of the Dead this evening. The lead zombie emerging from the river is such a memorable scene. I think we may watch Zombie Lake tomorrow night. ...and the Re-Animator is a fantastic movie!

Zombie movies are one of my favorite horror genres. Tell me you have seen Dead Alive.... It's not, forget about Zombie Lake and get your hands on a copy of Dead Alive. Absolute classic!
As for myself, I decided to skip Re-Animator and watch Vacancy, which was really beyond my expectations. By using little gore and violence, the movie really relies on suspense and creates a very strong "Hitchcock-ian" vibe. The final act, however, was a little bit of a letdown. But if you're looking for something to watch, it is worthy of your time.

I haven't seen Re-Animator 2... Anyone know if that's worthwhile? Anyone seen the "remake" of Day of the Dead? It went straight to DVD about a month ago. Starring... Nick Cannon of shitty "Wild'n Out" fame. I've heard it's horrid and I've also heard that although it says it's "based on" the original, it has nothing to do with it. I'll probably rent it eventually anyway.I have Inside on my Netflix queue now, Jake. What I read about it after you mentioned it sounded interesting. I absolutely hated Vacancy! So many dumb horror cliches... Let's take a backwoods detour and get lost. Oh no, now our car is broken down. Oh hey, here just happens to be a creepy little autoshop with a creepy mechanic. Let's ask him for help. Let's take his creepy directions to a creepy motel. Let's not panic when things start to look creepy, it must just be our imagination. Oh my God, things really are creepy, why is this happening to us? I don't mind those kind when it's made to be campy, but I get really pissed when they expect to be taken seriously.
