I have a couple of large capacity flash drives that I store and transport music on (to and from work mostly) and one of them is no failing to open up when I plug it in to the USB. Is this thing done forever now? Is there any hope of it ever working again?

| How many computers/USB ports have you tried it on? Did it go directly from always working to not working at all? I would take a close look at the actual connector and see if anything looks messed up with the actual input. You also might try a spray or two from one of those cans of compressed air on the connection in case there's some dirt or dust that's causing an issue.

| I've tried it on 2 computers and a total of 5 ports. The damn thing just won't open up. I had it plugged in last night and went to Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Computer Management -> Device Management and under properties it said the device cannot be opened, or something like that. I asked the same question elsewhere and after all the questions, suggestions, and attempts to get this to work again I think I just have to face the fact that the drive is fried. The content can be reclaimed, I'm just sad about the loss of the drive.
