This has never really happened to me before so I thought I would share with the class.

Last night the History Channel had a show about, among other things, how different religions view the afterlife.  Of course one of the subjects was the differing versions of hell.  I didn't watch much of the show because it was bedtime for voodoo, but what few images I saw influenced my dreams.  In other words, I had nightmares about hell.  Nothing too disturbing (I've had much worse nightmares) but I don't think I have ever had dreams or nightmares about something that I had watched on TV no more than a few hours before.

The show mentioned Buddhism (I think) and how that religion doesn't belive in hell per say, but those who do not live a good life will suffer sever torture and pain equivalant to what they dished out.  Once the good and bad equal out the suffering stops.  Now I'm not sure what is supposed to happen next, or if it all happens in a reincarnated life, but I just thought it was interesting.  Also the show mentioned that despite the obvious differences between Christianity and Islam both religions believe in a somewhat similar version of hell.  I was not awake long enough to hear more details but again, something I thought to be interesting.

The only other dream I can remember that was influenced by television was a looooong time ago when I used to watch the show Who's the Boss (Alyssa Milano = droooool).  I had a weird dream about the lady Angela (I can't remember the name of the actress).

There were probably others but none I can think about at the moment.

I don't watch as much television as I used to with the growing family and all, but it still seeps into my life quite a bit.  I will quote Friends or Will and Grace, or Married with Children or Cheers.  That's about it, I guess.  Funny thing is, with so many people complaining about the violence on TV these days, and with the amount of Saturday morning cartoons I used to watch I am far from a violent person.  That is one area that has not infleunced my life or dreams.

When the Heroes Season 1 box set came out a few months ago, I was constantly watching that. I know I had more than one Heroes-related dream, but I don't remember any of them specifically.

In the last month or so, I've gone through 5 seasons (Somewhere around 120 episodes) of Scrubs, and I think I've had a dream or two about that show too.

I had a bunch of dreams about World of Warcraft back when I played that game non-stop. Don't let Jodi tell you otherwise, she had dreams about that game too.

My dreams involving television usually revolve around politics. I often have nightmares about Roe vs. Wade getting overturned if anti-abortion groups or laws pop up in the news. Sometimes, I have beautiful dreams about publicly proving Ann Coulter's books wrong. Outside of politics or current events, television rarely infiltrates my dreams.

Uhh, this is very true.

I've had plenty of dreams about movies and/or TV shows before. Most of them are lame, but occasionally I'll watch a movie that freaks me out for one reason or another and it sticks in my head (that happens when all you watch is horror movies, so I've discovered).

Even though I don't believe in hell, I've had dreams about it before and I think about it a lot. The thought of it terrifies me to no end, mainly because if it does exist, no one could possibly fathom the torture they would endure there. I get the same feeling from Lovecraft's writing and the Hellraiser movies (imagine that). They say you fear what you can't explain...it's true, at least in my case.
