So, I'm not huge into Power Metal by any means... but I must say, the new Kamelet album "The Black Halo" is pretty cool. (I have to be in the mood for it)

Soothing, airy music with straight forward clean vocals... with very memorable choruses..

DOn't know much about the band to be honest with you but I have heard very good things about that cd. Been meaning to check it out for a long time now but never got around to it. Maybe some day.

Classy band in my opinion, If you ever get a chance to here anything from the Vocalists previous band "Conception" then take the offer, they folded in 1998 i think and released 4 albums between 1993 and 1998.

I perfer their albums towards Kamelot's stuff even though Kamelot's first 2 CDs were with a different Vocalist which gave the band more of a Crimson Glory feel to the music, which can't be bad either.

Crimson Glory is another band I just could not get in to. I bought the S/T release and Transcendance and neither did much for me. I had them playing while painting my bedroom a few months ago and I forgot what I had on. The music was OK, the vocals were not. Which is strange because I do enjoy some clean, high pitched vocals. There was something about Midnight that left me cold.

I also have to be really into the mood to listen to Kamelot. Karma is a good album, Epica is a boring. The new one is a mix. It has its good moments and boring ones. Haven't heard any of their earlier stuff so.

OK, so I have been listening to my metal stations on Pandora.com and I have heard 3 or 4 songs by Kamelot (the new cd) and I really liked what I heard. Not the typical power metal cheese chink I was expecting. The songs (I can't remember specific songs) seemed to be more traditional metal rather than power metal. And by power I mean the same fast uninteresting beat and lyrics about slaying dragons and saving the fair princess.

So I my opinion has changed for the better.

Kamelot's new CD is definitely not in the "cheesy" power metal area.  Traditional song structures... with great vocals and melody..  I like it... and I usually don't like that sort of thing a whole lot..  It has to be done well.

March of Mephisto is a MONSTER of a song.  What an awesome opener.  Kudos to Kamelot!  PLayed that this morning before meeting up with my fellow carpoolers at 5:30 in the AM and it really woke me up good.  Not too many better ways to start the day, I say.
