Saw that you were there.  Any stories to tell?

How's the recording going, by the way?

NAMM was wonderful & a bit overwhelming. Matt & I arrived in L.A. a day early & had a bit of time to cruise around to my old Hollywood haunts. The next day we picked up Steve & Quinn at LAX & made a quick round of hellos to the Cleopatra Records & Century Media Records buildings.

The next day at NAMM it was back to the crazy traffic which got us to this massive building (Anaheim Convention Center) just in time to try and navigate through acres of guitar booths & displays, tens of thousands of people and find our Dean Markley booth with just moments to spare. We were ushered to the top of this tower in the center of the action where we were able to relax a bit & have some drinks while mingling with the guys from Dio's band & some Ozzy alum (as seen in our myspace photo). Then our manager came and said it was time to go down and do our autograph signing. I was a bit apprehensive, because it's strange to think anyone would care about the Witch when there are guys from Queensryche, Motley Crue, Sabbath, Journey & the like just wandering around and doing their own thing.

BUT, much to my enjoyment, the excitement level was pretty high for us and we did a couple hours of meet & greet with fans from all over the planet, all ages, all metal. It was a really cool chance to talk to a lot of people without the fatigue and distraction of playing a long set.

The Dean Markley guys were all very supportive of us & treated us with as much respect as their bread & butter George Lynch, Yngwie & Nikki Sixx, who were also there. We shared our time with Jerry Only from the Misfits & he turned out to be one of the nicest, most sincere guys at the event.

Other than that, we wandered for days, doing various TV interviews, trying out some gear, catching up with guys like Lynch & some of my L.A. friends that I haven't seen in ages. It was super to go, both as a fan and as a musician. But the real fun was the after parties, like the Hilton. That is basically like what you'd expect to see if you died & went to classic metal Heaven. There we got to drink & chat with people from AC/DC, Priest, Shadows Fall, Poison, you name it...

Essentially, the week was about shmoozin & boozin, and although I actually like the sub zero winter here in Pittsburgh, it was a nice change of pace to walk around the palm trees & 70 degree sunny weather for a little break, while dining at the best (Vegan friendly) joints, cruising the Sunset Strip club scene, shopping on Melrose & chillin' by the pool in our Hollywood apartment, compliments of manager extraordinaire, Diana DeVille!

Cheers.

Glad you had a good time, and were able to catch up with old friends. I'm very jealous of all the fans that get to go to events such as this one. In my neck of the woods we are lucky to get anybody of any signifigance. At an event like that the concentration of "names" is incredible.

Warm, sunny weather? What's that? We don't have any in Pittsburgh!
