OK, so we all have an album in our collection that just doesn't fit.  We are all metalhead but we listen to all kinds of music, I assume (maybe not, who knows).  So, among all the Death CD's, the Megadeth CD's, and the Mayhem memorabilia there has to be a handful of CD's that stick out like a sore thumb.  Maybe it is something you bought on a whim, listened to once and put aside to collect dust bunnies, or  it was a gift that you just never got rid of, or something.  So, your assignment, LFM members, should you choose to accept it, is to find that CD or CD's and tell the world all about it.

1. How did you come by acquiring this CD?

2. Is it something you used to listen to often, or still do?

3. What about it did you like that led you to acquire it, or keep it?

4. etc.

Spill it folks.

I'll start.

In the rock and metal category:

Bulletboys - Freakshow.  This was the second release by this band, after the very succesful self-titled debut.  This CD contained the song Hang on St. Christopher, which lead me to buy it from a used CD store near College Park Maryland.  Was a cool little ditty that didn't quite fit the style from the previous album, but I think that's why I liked it.  Has a cool groove, very laid back for a metal song.  Haven't pulled this out in a long time cuz I have so many other CD's to listen to but back in the day it was sort of a regular.

In the non-rock and metal category:

Devo - Oh, No!  It's Devo.  These guys are the true and original alternative band.  So quirky and odd yet so freaking cool.  This is the first album I heard from this band.  Actually, a friend was real big into this band and we had a "club" where the only music we allowed ourselves to listen to was Devo.  That's Good, Out of Synch, Big Mess, etc.  What a freaking bad-ass album.  I have no shame in admitting that I still listen to Devo on occasion.  A not-so-guilty pleasure I suppose.

Next!

Mr. Mister's Welcome To The Real World, some stuff from Journey, Asia, Meat Loaf and maybe a couple of others.

1. did you come by acquiring this CD?
They weren't metal, but the music was well written, they have a lot of talent, and it just stuck with me.

2. Is it something you used to listen to often, or still do?
From time to time.

3.What about it did you like that led you to acquire it, or keep it?
I enjoy it. I won't put it on my iPod, but I listen to it from time to time.

4. etc.
At least they aren't glam!

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.

Most out of place music in my collection would be 2 Live Crew As Nasty As They Want To Be. A friend of mine had it and I thought it was funnier than hell, so I had to get a copy. Think I listened to it twice and got tired of it.

As many members on the site know, i listen to pretty much everything, within reasonable bounds. If it sounds good, and it's unique, i like it for the most part.

I've got a bunch of old ska, like Voodoo Glow Skulls, Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake that I used to listen to WAY back in the day, as well as a lot of Good Riddance and Bad Religion albums. I listen to the ska every once in a while just for a good laugh, but the others stay in a regular rotation on my MP3 player, and my computer.

I'd say one of the cd's I still listen to a large amount has probably got to be Underdogs by Matthew Good Band. They're from vancouver, and although i hate the guys in the band, this album really opened up my eyes to a greater volume of music. It's depressing, it's dark, and extremely simple minded, but it changed the way i analyzed music, and helped me open up to so many more bands. I bought the cd because my cousin was really into them, and i really looked up to him in my youth. Definitely still makes an occasional appearance in my car or wherever, and it still brings the same level of excitement it did the first time i listened to it.

I know we've never met and you'll probably never read this.
There are certain things your voice does to me, it makes me feel the ground
and sky again.
How sad it is when you spill your guts on the paper.
It only neglects you and never relieves.
In every corner and space I search for you,
I've only found your vocal cords.
Hate that I'm never certain of what needs what most.
All day your songs spin me into a romance repeatedly to the sky.
Scream over and over again repeatedly to the sky.
In every corner and space I search for you,
I've only found your vocal cords.
Hate that I'm never certain of what needs what most.

I guess, I would say Violator and Ultra by Depeche Mode

1. How did you come by acquiring this CD?
Used on Amazon for 1.50 each. I had to buy them.

2. Is it something you used to listen to often, or still do?
Yep, I still listen to and enjoy them.

3. What about it did you like that led you to acquire it, or keep it?
Well, they had good reviews and all that. Why did I keep 'em? Because they kick ass, especially David Gahans' vocals.

4. etc.
um.
