Are they black metal?  Death?  Whatever.  I'm familiar with some of their stuff, and I'm seeing them for free on Monday.  What are your opinions on the band?

I would call them Swiss thrash/death/black metal.  I just saw them on Tuesday night with Goatwhore and Sun O)))).  It was an awesome show.  I must warn you though, if Sun O)))) is playing with them, take earplugs!  You will thank me later...they played 45 minutes of low-droning noise.  I seriously thought it was a joke for about the first 5 minutes; Andy Coffman style.  I was terribly mistaken.  I wanted to vomit by the end of their set and probably would've if not for the earplugs.  Goatwhore played better than ever.  Those guys just know how to put on a good show.  And Ben Falgoust is a very sexy beast, so that doesn't hurt.

Celtic Frost totally made up for Sun O))))!  I honsetly didn't expect their set to be all that great, but it was excellent.  By far the best show I've seen in months, and I've been to several.

Here's their setlist if your interested...their set was around 95 minutes.

Procreation
Visions of Mortality
Circle of Tyrants
The Usurper
Jewel Throne
Ain Elohim
Necormantical Screams
Dawn of Meggido
Return to the Eve
Inner Sanctum
Ground
Dethroned Emperor
Into the Crypts of Rays
Synagoga Satanae

No encore.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.  I was just discussing Sunn O))) last night with a friend of mine...he said something along the same lines, ha.  I don't think they are opening for them here, just Goatwhore.  That's probably a good thing.

So far the only CF album I have is To Mega Therion, and I suppose I should probably give it a good listen.

Yeah... That Sun O))) & Boris album is horrible, in my opinion. I haven't heard anything else by either of them, but supposedly Boris is one of the founding members of "drone metal"... sad when the genre name tells you it's going to be boring.

I would if I were you.  They played 6 songs off that album.  If you had posted this a day earlier I could've sent you a cd with their setlist, but I have to be at work to upload to our FTP and I'm not going in until Monday.

You can't even imagine the boredom of a Sun O)))) set...you're so lucky!  I have to say, they made Celtic Frost sound that much better though...

I read the same thing about the "Boris" dude...I wish I could say it is genius, but it was terribly boring.  Maybe if I was tripping on acid it would've been more entertaining.

My man just downloaded their whole discography because he thought it was brilliant...he's one sick puppy if you ask me.

Celtic Frost did play encores. They just didn't go off stage first.

I like Sunn O))). Not the biggest Boris fan though.

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.
