Old Carcass is f'ing amazing. Sheer Chaos with the most intense lyrics ever written. Was like reading a medical dictionary. They pretty much invented the whole "gore metal" movement. I can listen to Symphonies Of Sickness all day long!! Reek is a great album also, might be the first grind album ever made. Total over the top mayhem. If you like their newer stuff, IE: Swansong and Heartwork then maybe you won't get into the older stuff but if you ask me nothing beats the sheer intensity of Symphonies, Reek and Necrotism!!! I for one can't stand Swansong and Heartwork has maybe 2 good songs on it. Total disappointment!

Agreed. Although I hated all the songs on Heartwork and Swansong. Those albums were boring tame commerical rock crap.

Okay.  I finally got a copy of Swansong, which I'm digging a lot.  I'd heard most of it before but didn't actually have the album until now.  I've also been on this huge classic death/grind kick, so old Carcass is really kicking my ass right now, too.

Conclusion:  All Carcass is good.  Unfortunately, I can't say the same for all carcasses.  I only like the smelly ones.

Swansong is fun and Heartwork was their last real brutal release.  But overall, this is one of the few examples where we get to see and hear a band grow.

Necroticism will aways be my favorite though.
