Yeah, I may go a little bit towards "Swarm!" only because I was very happy to see Chris Barnes not being a fagbaby.

I like Barnes, but he is not the Grandfather of death metal. There were guys before him.
Chuck Schuldiner, who I obviously worship, isn't even really the father of death metal.

He's not the grandfather of guttural vocals. There were a lot of vocalists utilizing that kind of vocal style before him and at the same time as him. He's just the most well known.

Cannibal Corpse is 1990. Death metal was around a few years before then.
There was also a big explosion in the scene that same year.
Barnes was not one of the first by any means. Jeff Becerra came out 5 years before he did.
