I was reading on another site a topic about favorite death metal guitarists.  One of the choices was James Murphy.  I think his work with Testament on The Gathering and Low was phenomenal, as was his work in Death.  I also know that he has been in many other bands - Cancer, Obituary, Disincarnate, Konkhra (never heard of this band before today but I like what I hear from the samples on the site).

Anyway, from what I can tell he is a monster of an axe-man.  Strange that he has really not been able to find a band and stick with it for a long time.  He seems to be a guitarist for hire.  Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

So what do you all think of Murphy?  Good player, overrated, or The Man?

I guess in between good player and the man.

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.

Thrash, are you familiar with his new project Daath? Don't think he is actually playing in it, but producing or managing, or something like that.

Their web site give very little information so I can't say much else. I can't even find out when the new CD is coming out, unless I completely glossed over it.
