Chuck was one of the best songwriters in heavy metal, I think. Death (from 1991) had such a strong melodic nature, with beautiful phrasing and ample brutality (haha).

My taste in metal has moved to more "extreme" styles, yet I come back time and again to Death's music. I can see timelessness in it. Schuldiner was obviously heavily influenced by classic metal, and rendered that influence into a unique and heavier art.

My thoughts exactly, Chuck was and still is a God, RIP. Truly only the good die young.

If Chuck was still alive, do you think Death would still be kicking ass or would he really have gone for Control Denied full time?

He said that Death wouldn't have been completely disolved. Just not really as active. But there would have been a possibility.

But at least Death ended with THE perfect swansong.

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.

I have personally never read what Chuck had said about the two bands, but I definitely would have though Control Denied would have been his priority had he not died. Just seemed like his taste in music had changed enough over time causing Death (the band) to be holding him back a little. A musician can only go so far with a band called Death. He must have felt that Control Denied offered him a completely different outlet.
