Damn, I wish I could have seen them live. Chuck is God to me.

I thought Lemmy was God??

Either way, I wish I could have seen that band live, also.  Actually, I wish I was into the band when Chuck was alive.  I only began to listen to his music very recently.

Chuck was one of the best songwriters in heavy metal, I think. Death (from 1991) had such a strong melodic nature, with beautiful phrasing and ample brutality (haha).

My taste in metal has moved to more "extreme" styles, yet I come back time and again to Death's music. I can see timelessness in it. Schuldiner was obviously heavily influenced by classic metal, and rendered that influence into a unique and heavier art.

Leprosy is quickly becoming my favorite Death album.  "Why don't you....PULL THE PLUG!"

Nah, Symbolic has the most crushing grooves. The title track especially.

I really wasn't a fan of TSoP, but Spiritual Healing, ITP and Symbolic are among my favorite albums.
