| For a long time the only metal bands I listened to utilized too much hairspray. I stil listen to those bands once in a while, but I soon venutered into the Metallica/Megadeth/ Suicidal Tendencies area, and I never strayed too far from those 3, except maybe Ozzy/Black Sabbath. Then, after a few years and countless hours listening to Rust in Peace I found my way to power and prog metal, namely Dream Theater. Then I happened to meet a guy at work who was very much addicted to much heavier and aggressive music, which he introduced me to. Bands like Slayer, Overkill and Testament, and then Arch Enemy and a few others. But now I am listening to The Sound of Perserverance by Death and I am floored. I had heard it before but never really paid too much attention. I am sorry it took me so long to figure it out. All hail Chick Schuldiner. The man gave the world some fantastic music. Sad that he is gone, now. This stuff is incredible. Anyone else want to jump in while I pick my jaw up off the floor and wipe the drool from my face?

| Very good sentiment, voodoo... Death (Chuck) has been associated with the founding of Death metal... basically through a great Florida Death Metal scene, of that time... It is really cool to listen to the material and see the progression they made from album to album... I love Death's material... and the his "Control Denied" album "The Fragile Art of Existence" is a wonderful work (1999). If you haven't already, you can really read up on the history Chuck Shuldiner at http://www.emptywords.org.

I have looked through that site a few times. Interesting history. And I have heard The Fragile Art of Existence. Very good stuff, and it is intriguing to think of what would have come next.

voodoo (10/28/2005) I have looked through that site a few times. Interesting history. And I have heard The Fragile Art of Existence. Very good stuff, and it is intriguing to think of what would have come next.I had heard that the other "Control Denied" members were going to finish the material that had been started for the 2nd album... and actually release it in honor of Chuck. Although: I haven't heard any news in regard to that possibility in awhile... That would be extremely cool...
