The subject pretty much explains itsself, what do you feel is the greatest Death Metal album?

Mine would have to be Vital Remain's Dechristianize. That cd in my opinion, just takes that genre to the limit, combining every great aspect of Death Metal. Between Dave S. on Drums AND guitar along with Glen Benton doing vocals, sounds like a dream come true to me. Death's The Sound of  Perseverance and Cryptopsy's None So Vile aren't far behind it though.

Well, I am still VERY new to the genre (only began listening a few years ago), but so far in my journey my favorite is Symbolic. I will forever be completely floored by the incredible combination musicianship and intensity displayed on that album.

Yeah, that is my second favorite Death album. Chuck was just an all around amazing musician. Not to get side tracked with the topic at hand but have you heard the side project that Chuck created before he died called "Control Denied"? He does only guitar and had an actual singer. So, it isn't Death Metal but an amazing Metal Band all the same.

Control Denied was originally Chuck on vocals actually. I'm trying to get the demo of that but I cannot find it. He got Tim Aymar to join because his voice would fit the music better (he wanted Warrel Dane first but Nevermore is a full time band so he recommended Tim). Chuck had an excellent voice though. The cover of Painkiller more than proves it.

I also believe that Chuck managed to complete another Control Denied album before he died. Due to record company bullshit though, they haven't released it yet. Record Labels are such bloodsuckers. Chuck's family is actually quite poor from what I hear due to record companies using his name to make money.

It's not completed. They have to do some vocals and a lot of the songs are not finished from the writing process. Check's solos and a lot of the riffs are also supposed to be in a really bad quality since they are just demos. The family doesn't want to release it because it will sound bad and they know Chuck would not want something like that released. The band is willing to do whatever they have to do. The record companies are suing Jane Schuldiner, which is really fucked up. She's a very nice person. She always returns emails and you can tell that it means a lot to her. She runs a few websites dedicated to Chuck's music too. I feel really bad that she has to go through all of it.

Really? I didn't know it was so far from completion. I really doubt that the genre will ever see the likes of somebody as great as Chuck. He is the Godfather of Death Metal.
