How is it that Iron Maiden can release quality Metal albums almost every 2 years or so..and it takes Metallica almost 5-7 years to release something sub par?

I just thought about this, as Iron Maiden's new one "A Matter Of Life and Death" is about to be released..and from the samples I heard..it sounds great...

Last time Metallica released something it was that "Shit Anger" and now from what I hear..the next one won't be until mid next year..at the earliest???? I use to love Metallica...and I hope whenever the new one comes out..it crushes...But it seems they are dying fast...

Iron Maiden on the other hand..what can you say..Thank God for them..they are the Derek Jeter's of Metal..the Captain of our team....

comments????

I don't even think this needs comments. We all know Maiden are gods who will never run out of ideas. I don't even like old Metallica. I'd rather spend that time listening to Megadeth.

Don't forget though, the only thing that I wasn't crazy for from King Diamond was Abigail 2. But that was because the production sounded flat and uninspired. Other than that, King never released shit either and he's also been releasing albums like every couple of years.

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.

Wow... good topic!  I've really never thought of this comparison before.  This could be because, in my opinion, Metallica is not in the same class as Iron Maiden (although, there aren't many that are).

Maiden, from the beginning, have really created material that is almost impossible to spawn immitators.  It is completely unique, from musical composition to the incredible vocals.  There music has never pinned them to a certain style.  They have the ability to experiment and stretch their boundaries...

Also.. it's never been about radio air play and acceptance.  The fans have made Maiden... because Maiden is all about the music and the fans.  This has allowed them to stay who they are... and to continue making the music that their fans (and themselves) adore.

They obviously LIVE FOR METAL

Oh yeah..  I could have answered this topic with two words -- Steve Harris!!!

Well, I think it just boils down to the fact that Maiden has better musicians and writers.  Plain and simple.

AS Bare says STEVE HARRIS . The man has a talent for writing good music . Its amazing that no one has mentioned the loss of Cliff burton as aHUGE factor in Metallicas writing style. He was an amazing Bass Player who had much more potential than you could ever imagine.
Metallica has sought to stay in the limelight that they experienced after MTV exposed the band to the masses. ITS a drug that they feel they need. And that is why they write the music they do now. TO stay in the charts and feed the hysteria. It's not the money or the fame..Its the need to stay on top or so they would imagine.

Iron Maiden has never gotten hooked on the fame. AND they write for themselves and they do it well . No matter what Metallica does in the future they will never erase the fact that they wrote some GOD awful albums with some GOD AWFUL VOCALS !!

Iron Maiden didn't cut their hair and go alt-rock, that's why. And they still play guitar solos. And last I checked, Steve Harris isn't dead and Maiden didn't fire a kick-ass guitar player.

EDIT: OK, that was just stupid...

FYI  The New Iron Maiden kicks so much ass!  By far their best in years, Have to listen to it with headphones on to get the whole impact and heaviness.  Look out for a review of it soon- still wanna absorb it more before I do it's proper review.  Up The Irons \m/
