I've just come home from seeing the Witch in downtown Manhattan, and I was absolutely blown away. I knew these guys were good from listening to their album, but I was not prepared for the power and grandeur that was to meet me this night. They began the set with Winds of Atlantis, which I had not had the pleasure of hearing before. It got the mood going before they segwayed into a roaring performance of Storming the Castle, and they owned the place from that moment on.

Other highlights were Soothsayer and Forevermore, although the whole performance was so near perfect it's nearly impossible to pick out high points. All the musicians were in top form, especially Matthew, whose vocal technique I didn't fully appreciate until witnessing its power and range firsthand. I got to exchange a few words with him after their set, which was exciting in and of itself. And I got a t-shirt, of course.

It was a remarkable experience, getting to see this band whose debut album has been occupying so much of my time in the couple of months it's been since I found it on a store shelf and decided to give it a go, just for fun. Icarus Witch has a grand destiny in store, and I'm thankful I was able to see them in person in their early days. Please come back to NYC; you have devoted fans here and will make many more.

Awesome description.  I agree that the guys are great although I have yet to see them live.  Jason (Bass Sin) is a great guy who, when he has spare time, has graced us with his presence on this board quite a bit.

And Welcome to Living for Metal.

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome!!!!

I also love the old school vibe that I get from Matthews vocals

Yeah.  He certainly has his own style, but the sound he evokes is kind of a Bruce Dickinson, but more sinister, or an Ozzy Osbourne but much better trained.

Thanks to you Daedalus Warlock (very clever name name by the way )

The band had a blast in NYC playing with our friends Widow and some other bands from New York (Pale Horse & Ruin Her were very pro).

Gotta love a hot summer night in the village with lots of cold beer and screaming metal heads. Also in attendence was the editor from Metal Maniacs, the guys in Attacker (thanks for coming from NJ to represent!), George Grant from the Serpenteens and my pal Anthony Esposito (Lynch Mob, Ace Frehley).

After the show we made our way through the underground to one of the coolest little bars in the country, Duff's in Brooklyn. You know you're home when the juke box blares Children Of The Damned at 3:30 in the morning and the whole place is singing along at the top of their lungs!

Sorry John E, PBR still blows.

Anyway, another town down and tomorrow we leave bright & early for our German invasion. A few shows in der Faderland and we're back on the scene here on the east coast. No rest for the wi...

Well, you know the way we roll...

Prost!

Awesome, thanks for checking in. We love to hear what's happening in the IW camp, even the small little details like what was playing on a jukebox at 3:30 in the AM.

I wish I was in NY when you guys were there. Hopefully I'll see Venom though.

Do you have to be 21 to go to Duff's? I've always wanted to check that place out. Mille from Kreator was there on July 4th I think.

There's a little pub on 40th between Lexington and 3rd called Peter Dillions Publican. Soccer fans love it because they play soccer on all the TVs there. They play the world cup there.

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.
