For me, it really is about the music. As a rule, people shouldn't listen for the messages because it does wear out over time. Some of the best NS bands I've listened to are Temnozor and Nokturnal Mortum.

the NS thing with the pagan/blasck bands annoys me, yes
but I do admit some of those play good music

I don't like it though, because it attrects certain people, who are not into it cus of the music, but just cus of the ideology...you can't talk to those people, cus they don't know much about music, they just go on and on about how cool it is that the bands is NS :doze:

Well, it's NOT folk/viking metal but I can really recommend MECHANICAL POET - they are from Moscow and play really interesting Prog-Metal - sometimes I think they're inspired by "Nightmare Before Christmas"

it's quite interesting that i know Arkona as band for a long time, but haven't really heard them. by the way there are two bands named Arkona from Russia, your mentioned and a nsbm band.

An obvious one, but worth mentioning anyway: Arkona. It is improtant to note that there is also a black metal band from Poland of the same name, so if you have to, make the distinction.

Gods Tower (pagan metal)

i know that i've heard Chur, but i don't remember how they sounded..
not Russian folk, but Holy Blood is great band from Ukraine, which mix folk and black metal with some symphonic elements

I actually know someone who's into a lot of folk metal. I don't know much about the Russian language though. The only English-singing NS band that comes to mind right now is Finist. It features members of Nokturnal Mortum, if you know who they are.

Troll Bends Fir is another great band from Russia, and they have released a new album.

and where the problem with NS folk/pagan metal?? i listen quite a lot of ns black metal, and i don't think that i'm doing something wrong.. i know that the ideology isn't acceptable for most people, but i think it's very personal and i don't give a shit what other think about me and NS..
