I forgot my password

Solution : On the forums login page, in the bottom right hand corner, there is a link to "Request Your Password".

Forum Validation Email

After I registered I didn't receive the validation/activation email.

Solution : If you go to the forums login page... in the bottom right band corner there is a link to "Resend Validation Email".

I keep getting logged out of the forum?

I keep getting logged out of the forum even though I check the 'Remember Me' option when I log in.

Solution : Ensure that your browser is configured to accept cookies.

If you still have this issue, please post a topic within the Support forum.

Instant Messaging

If you would like other LivingForMetal.com members to be able to contact you via your different IM softwares... You can add your IM addresses in your forum Control Panel.

Every post you make in the forum will then have buttons for each Instant Messaging software that you gave an address for...

This way, other members just click on the button to contact you.

You can remove these addresses at any time.

How do I get a line above my signature

A line between your post and your signature can make the forum easier to read.

When editing your signature just put the following in front of it (but take the spaces out between the brackets and letters.)

Here is an example... I'll place this in front of my name to finish this post.. and I mean right in front of your signature... dont hit enter or anything (remember take the spaces out)

This is an example of how I would do it... but I put spaces in so the line doesn't actually show up.

Minimizing Forum Categories

If there are certain categories within the forum that you do not frequent you can minimize them in order to make the forum page shorter and less cluttered.

In the upper right hand corner of every forum category you will notice a little box with a "-" or a "+" in it. If you click on the "-" button the forum category will be minimized to just the category title. Then by clicking on the "+" button the forum category will once again be maximized.

If you do this while logged into the forum these settings will be remembered for your future visits to the forum.

Private Messages

You can access your private messages from within the control panel -OR- click on the "#/# Messages" link... which is located right next to the control panel link (in the upper right of the forum)

How can I edit my personal information?

In the upper right of the forum, click on the "Control Panel" link. Once in the control panel, there is a list of options down the left side of the page... Avatars, signatures, etc...

Can I Post Images?

User Ratings

When viewing a review (and your logged into the website) you will be able to give the material your own rating. This rating will then be displayed in the review as well. This will allow you to express your opinions and will also allow those viewing the reviews to see a broader opinion.

When your logged into the site, in the User Panel, there will be a 'Ratings' link. This will bring you to a page that will list all of your ratings, sorted by band name (ascending).

In the future, I hope to think of other ways to get everyone involved in the site and to allow users to find other members that have similar interests? Who knows....

Here are some guidelines to follow, as a member of LivingForMetal.com:

1. Search the forum, before posting a message in the forum, it would be best to do a search within the forum, to see if your information already exists. This will reduce the amount of threads, discussing the same topic.

2. Topic subjects should be concise and informative. It helps everyone.

3. Please keep your discussion 'on topic'. If the discussion strays from the original topic, it helps no one.

4. Indecent / Vulgarity / Spamming : The moderators of this forum, have the right to edit, lock or delete topics, if it is determined to be indecent, vulgar or spam. Moderators will make this determination.

5. Make sure your posts are informative and have purpose. Replying, simply to state that 'you don't know' -or- just replying with a smiley face, just adds length to the topic.

6. Debate : Obviously, there will be situations where you disagree with someone... That's alright and what these forums are for... but let's have healthy debates/arguments. Flaming at someone, with insults and vulgarity without severe provocation, will not be tolerated. Debates/Arguments are cool -- but let's treat each other with respect.

Subscribe to a Forum

If you would like to be notified, when a new posting is created, within a certain forum, you can subscribe to that forum.

When a post is created in that forum, you will be sent an email, notifying you of that activity.

How?

1. Enter the forum, which you wish to subscribe to.
2. In the upper right of the forum (in the forum header), you will see a 'Forum Options' link
3. Click on that link
4. A drop down menu will appear
5. There will be a 'subscribe to forum' option, within that menu
6. Clicking on that option, will subscribe you to that forum

You can manage all your subscriptions, in your 'Control Panel' which is always available towards the top of the forum.

What is RSS?

RSS is a format for syndicating news and webblogs. RSS is very widespread with many websites and most major news websites offering live RSS feeds.

You can acquire RSS Reader software, that will check your subscribed RSS feeds, on a periodic time interval, which you can set. You can then read that content without opening your browser.

Our forums have the ability to feed their contents to these RSS Readers.

Simply acquire a RSS Reader program. There are many to choose from. Search for RSS @ http://www.download.com. Each one of these applications operates in a slightly different manner. So, read the instructions of the application and you can have these forums fed to your reader.
