I would like to hear some of their older albums, but that takes money I don't really have right now. Anathema was mentioned earlier as well, and that's another band I'd really like to check out based on the sound clips I have heard.

If you do like My Dying Bride, I would recommend checking out Katatonia as well. The Great Cold Distance is their newest one, and their best, in my opinion.

I may be alone here on this, because I know a lot of people hate them, but a doomy band I like is Type O Negative. Some of their stuff is pretty cheesy, but when it's cheesy, it's usually in self parody.

RE: My Dying Bride

I'll give it a whirl, but understanding lyrics is very important to me. I've found a few Folk bands whose lyrics are in other languages, and I enjoy it, but it really depends on their sound. If they can hold my attention with the music, then lyrics aren't so important, but it must be the perfect balance.

RE: My Dying Bride

Lyrics don't mean anything. You cannot look at them from a musical point of view. Look at them from an ambient noise point of view. That's basically what they do.

Another great doom band is Thorr's Hammer. My live experience was horrific, yes, but I do respect what they do. It's genius really, but just not my thing, and I doubt it will ever be. They were my first true exposure to the genre so now when I think of Doom, I relate it to Sun O))), and I'm thankful to know now that I am wrong in this thought. That's all...

I've heard of Thorr's Hammer before, maybe from the board, I don't know. I've never listened to it though.
