I will be interested to hear what you have to say regarding the Equilibrium album. They have received nothing but praise from what I have heard so far. I am definitely considering picking this one up...

Hammers of Misfortune has a new album coming out sometime later on this year. They could definitely be the icing on the cake for what has been a really good year for traditional heavy metal. Consider my fingers crossed...

Well Epicurean was a good recommendation. I hadn't heard them before, but I just checked them out and I like what I've heard so far.

If you were let down by Into Eternity's latest, give that Epicurean disc a try. There are some similarities among the two bands, although Epicurean has a little bit of a darker and more aggressive sound.

Well I've heard the new Into Eternity and I'm let down. The vocals got a lot more shrill and squealy and that's not really my preference.

I just found out a few days ago about Burst's new album that will be out September 16. I've checked out a couple new tracks on their myspace and I dig them quite a bit.

I just found out about that one a few days ago.

I'm also looking forward to the Anata and Mastodon, assuming both of those come out this year.

Mastodon are at work again in the studio. Their next release is slated for either this year or early 2009.

It came to my attention that Morbid Angel is once again in the studio. If they should happen to release an album in 2008, surely this is something I would look forward to.... I am hopeful.

This is already out and it's great! Probably the band's most aggressive album to date. If you enjoyed Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond, this takes it to the next level. Highly, highly recommended!

Zero Hour are recording a new album apparently. Specs Of Pictures Burnt Beyond was unbelievable, and I listen to it very, very often, so I can't wait to hear what they will do now

I know Man Must Die is currently writing for a new album. I am definitely looking forward to their next release, although it will probably come out in either late 2008 or early 2009.

I'd approach the new Amon Amarth with caution too. WOoOS was killer and almost a one-off to me. The rest of their stuff is rather so-so and the albums are laced with hits and misses.

Apparently Amon Amarth is shooting for a late release in 2008. I thought With Oden on Our Side was very enjoyable, although I have my doubts about this newest release. It seems like they are trying to capitalize on all of the success of the previous release by rushing to get this one out. Maybe this one will be another monster, but I would have liked to have seen them take a little time to further this material.

Nope!

Yeah, it's much more "brutal" than Stench and it gets a bit boring in places but after a few listens it sinks in. But it is rather shocking coming after Stench.

I just read your review for the new Deicide album. Great stuff! To be honest, I was really looking forward to something that built off the wonderful use of melody on The Stench of Redemption. From the samples I heard of the new record, that definitely seemed be lacking. I think your review has helped me understand the disconnect between those two records. At any rate, I will probably end up picking up the record. Should I send you the bill?

The new Dismember is absolutely fantastic.

I'm posting a review on the new Deicide in a a few.

I've withing for the new Grave and haven't picked up the new Testament yet.

I'm not very optimistic on the new Judas Priest though.... I think it will suck. Could be wrong though!

I'm not worried. Anata hasn't released anything short of excellent, and judging by what I have heard from Humanoid, the new Augury may exceed the brilliance of Concealed[/quote]

The "Hair Metal" post had me thinking:

I'm really looking forward to Chinese Democracy - if, indeed it is released this year. The main reason is I really want to hear what took 10 years to write, record, rewrite, rerecord, and then record again. Also, the three full-length GNR studio albums were flawless and the live bootlegs of supposed CD material sounds really strong.

I saw Anata just recently entered the studio. Hopefully that release will make a worthy follow-up. The same can be said for Augury, as Concealed was a personal favorite.

The year is still pretty early and a lot of releases are just on the horizon. Therefore, what are you looking forward to getting your hands on later this year?

Personally, I cannot wait for the new Communic & Orphaned Land
