This was at the time the only band/music I would listen to... and then of course I searched for more and found more and more and got into more and more. But all that hardcore stuff I just can't stand. It just seems too emo for me. Black metal, Death metal is just the way I like it. brutal, intense and satanic. The first time I heard anything other than Metallica was slipknot which my friend showed me. I didn't like them except one song but I saw realized bands got heavier. Brutality has always been my way, can't lie.

RE: What got you into music/metal?

Haha, done.

RE: What got you into music/metal?

Seems like we need a thread dedicated to King Diamond/Mercyful Fate.

Metalhead87? But I think the sound is a little more focused on the rhythm, that's why I think the drum and bass work sound better on that album. Satan's Fall has some of the best bass and drum work I've ever heard.

RE: What got you into music/metal?
Dechristianize (9/14/2006)
Definetly. I am now becoming a fan of much more extreme music, I am listening to a much better variety of power and prog metal, too. And I am diving into bands that are considered forefathers of current styles, trends, etc. I mean, when all Metalhead87 talks about is King Diamond and Mercyful Fate I feel inclined to give both bands a more thorough listen. Same with black and death metal. Never tried black metal until very recently and I am liking some of what I hear. Death metal I have been a fan of for a while but there are so many other bands to check out. My head spins at the thought. :hehe: :w00t:

RE: What got you into music/metal?
Metalhead87 (9/12/2006)
Tits on a bull=chicks with dicks.
Hmmm, I was unaware of that. He was on tour with over 60 metal bands and brought me along with him to see some shows. Also, if there was no such thing as music in the world, and I were the first person ever to create it with all different insruments, metal is what it would sound like: brutal, fierce, and passionate. I got into metal mainly because of the fact that it fits my thoughts, opinions, and just my mind in general.

RE: What got you into music/metal?
Metalhead87 (9/10/2006)
Refer to my Metalhead87's random outbursts thread since this one is starting to derail.
hehehe :hehe:
RE: What got you into music/metal?

Refer to my Metalhead87's random outbursts thread since this one is starting to derail.

RE: What got you into music/metal?

O yeah, how could such a great thing slip my mind.

RE: What got you into music/metal?

What about credit card and identity theft? WAY young! I was 5 yrs old when one of my older cousins got me into KISS. Being a Kid I thought they just looked Cool BUt then I actually went and got their ALBUM (YES album) my first album Kiss ALIVE . It came with a poster of the band and from their on it was just KISS MANIA . Became a full blown Member of the KISS army at 9 yrs old. AND at about that time I started listening to the local stations AND I came across a ROCK station. That is when my taste for metal soon developed I listened to every Band I could Ozzy , Van Halen, led zeppelin. After I heard Crazy Train for the first time I became hooked on Randy Rhoads stuff. BUt id say it was the local scene in San Antonio back then that got me into METAL. bands like Watchtower and wyzard and HELSTAR . Too many to name and way to many to remember . Almost every band that came out I had their album or cassette , Maiden,Metallica,Megadeth,Testament,Venom , Slayer, anthrax, metal church. The list goes on and on.

AND STILL GROWING >> hehehe

What got you into music/metal?

Just share stories on what albums got you into music and metal.

I remember back in late 1995 seeing a Smashing Pumpkins video one day. Later that week, my dad took me out and we bought "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" that was one of the few things my dad and I got to do one on one back when I was young due to my moms drinking, so it meant alot to me. That next month he showed me "Pretty Hate Machine" by Nine Inch Nails. Basically I listened to that and a few others for the next few years(like RHCP). Then when I was about 9, this stoner kid named CJ who lived on my block (I think he was like 13 or 14 and God knows why I hung around him) he showed me his copy of "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden. I was thrilled with the cover and asked him if I could borrow it. He said if I gave him 8 dollars, I could have it for good. The rest is history, Iron Maiden have been my favorite band since that day. Then I just kept going from there.
