Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are dissolving the "fest" format for Friday, August 8th. We regret to inform you that VICIOUS RUMORS and PHANTOM-X will no longer be playing that night. Putting together a festival like this is definitely not an easy task, and we (the promoters) are finding out just how rough it can actually be. We sincerely apologize for the lineup changes...yet again!

However, as somebody else once said, the show must go on. There will still be a kick-ass metal show in Kansas City on August 8th! Think of it as a KCPMF kick-off party, if you will. Or perhaps just a really damn awesome show!

Metal lords LEATHERWOLF will still be gracing The Riot Room's stage for an oldschool-bangin' set, as will the heavy-as-hell SEVENTH CALLING. Joining these fine young lads onstage will be Las Vegas' own AVENGER OF BLOOD, an incredible band helping to bring thrash back to the masses!

This is a lineup not to be missed! Also included are locals THE ARRET ZONE and MEATSHANK, plus a completely separate outdoor lineup consisting of KC's finest metallers!

Seriously...don't miss this! Saturday, August 9th is still going on as planned. Got questions? Email us: kcpmf2008@yahoo.com. Or just drop us a line via Myspace, and we will get back to you ASAP.

See you next month!

KCPMF Promoters

BLACK ELK tour dates; new album coming in October

Always A Six, Never A Nine is the second album and the follow up to the 2006 self-titled debut from Portland, OR aggro wreckers Black Elk, whose psychotic brand of crushing, noise-rock influenced heaviosity is a return to the unhinged underground rock force of bands like Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Black Flag and Hammerhead. This new album features ten songs of seething weirdness, with the dissonant, crushing riffage, lunging rhythmic push and awesome freaked out, Yow-esque vocals of singer Tom Glose that made their debut a fave among anyone who remembered the days when Amphetamine Reptile ruled the underground rock scene, but with some interesting new elements (bleak guitar ambience, piano, etc.) that add new shadows to Black Elk's ferocious sound.

Always A Six, Never A Nine will be coming out through Crucial Blast on October 21st and will be available as both a CD in deluxe gatefold packaging and digital download, with touring to coincide with the release.

Black Elk will stampede down the West Coast beginning this week, bringing their Pacific Northwest style of wickedly mangled headfuck-rock to some lucky towns:

07/11/2008 Oak Street Speakeasy - Eugene, OR
07/16/2008 The Alibi - Arcata, CA w/Helms Alee
07/17/2008 Thee Parkside - San Francisco, CA w/The Divine Feud, Pristines, Loving Thunder, Hooray for Schwule
07/18/2008 Alex’s Bar - Long Beach, CA w/400 Blows, Horns, Telomere Repair
07/19/2008 The Scene Bar - Glendale, CA w/400 Blows
07/26/2008 Capitol Hill Block Party - Seattle, WA w/Akimbo

http://www.blackelk.net
http://www.myspace.com/blackelk
http://www.crucialblast.net
http://www.myspace.com/crucialblastrecords
http://www.nanotear.com
http://www.myspace.com/nanotear

SKELETONWITCH added to Danzig's Blackest of the Black Tour; guitarist comments on new headlining dates, tour with Valient Thorr

Athens, Ohio’s SKELETONWITCH are proud to be announced as part of this year’s Blackest of the Black Tour alongside Danzig, Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell and Winds of Plague. SKELETONWITCH guitarist Scott Hedrick comments: "Cheers and beers, heshers!!! Here's a quick SKELETONWITCH update; proof that we've been doing SOMETHING since returning from Europe (besides gorging on Taco Bell). As you may have read, we're privileged to be a part of this year's Blackest of the Black Tour. We are beyond stoked to be a part of this killer lineup. About six years ago, I can recall [SKELETONWITCH guitarist] Nate one Halloween half shit-canned, with half a 30-pack, and a Marshall half-stack, standing on his roof playing Danzig riffs. Back then we certainly never thought we'd have an opportunity like this!! A huge thanks goes out to Danzig for inviting us to be a part of this tour. Please come out early and check out our set.

“Also, in early August we're hitting the road with Valient Thorr and Early Man, as well as playing several solo dates. Check out our MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/skeletonwitch) for dates, new live footage and video interviews. Hope those dudes are ready to party, and we hope to see you out on the road. As always, thanks to everyone who has supported THE WITCH!”

SKELETONWITCH continues to support the band’s Prosthetic Records debut, ‘Beyond The Permafrost,’ which saw an October 2007 release and features artwork from Baroness’ John Baizley and production courtesy of Corey Smoot (Municipal Waste, GWAR). The record is the follow-up to the band’s self-released EP, ‘Worship The Witch.’ Recently returning from a European tour alongside Hate Eternal, Cephalic Carnage, and Deaborn in May and June, having already toured Stateside this year with the likes of Hate Eternal, Soilent Green, Arsis, A Life Once Lost, Job For A Cowboy, The Red Chord, and more, in addition to a busy 2007 on the road.

SKELETONWITCH on tour

7/24 Lemoyne, PA – Championship

7/25 Wilmington, DE – Mojo 13

7/26 New York, NY – Knitting Factory (with Titan, Krallice)

7/27 Philadelphia, PA – Millcreek Tavern (with Javelina)

7/28 Washington, DC – DC9

7/29 Virginia Beach, VA – Steppin’ Out

7/30 Raleigh, NC – Volume 11 Tavern

7/31 Wilmington, NC – Lucky’s Pub

(SKELETONWITCH with Valient Thorr, Early Man)

8/01 Jacksonville, FL – Landshark Café

8/02 Orlando, FL – The Backbooth

8/03 Gainesville, FL – Common Grounds

8/04 Atlanta, GA – The Earl

8/05 New Orleans, LA – One Eyed Jack’s

8/06 Houston, TX – Rudyard’s

8/07 Corpus Christi, TX – House of Rock

8/08 Dallas, TX – Club Dada

8/09 Austin, TX – Red Seven

8/11 Albuquerque, NM – Launch Pad

8/13 Tempe, AZ – The Clubhouse

8/14 Victorville, CA – Karma

8/15 Los Angeles, CA – Troubadour

8/17 San Francisco, CA – Thee Parkside

8/19 Sparks, NV – Vixen

8/21 Portland, OR – Satyricon

8/22 Seattle, WA – The Funhouse

8/25 Salt Lake City, UT – TBA

8/26 Colorado Springs, CO – The Black Sheep

8/27 Denver, CO – Marquis Theater

8/28 Kansas City, MO – TBA

8/29 Des Moines, IA – Vaudeville Mews

8/30 Iowa City, IA – TBA

(SKELETONWITCH on Blackest of the Black with Danzig, Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell, Winds of Plague)

10/09 Ft. Make sure to head over to the band’s new MySpace page to check out two new tracks off the band’s upcoming release and tour dates currently scheduled.

Here’s what guitarist and founding member Chris Brock had to say about the name change:

"We changed the name from Apiary to Early Graves for a pretty simple reason. The songs we had created on the road under the former name had nothing to do with the original Apiary and we needed a new name that was a better fit, and more relevant to who we are. We wanted a name that meant burning your wick at both ends. It also didn’t hurt that there was not original members left and we didn’t want to be that band."

Chris’ comments on the upcoming CD We: The Guillotine:

"Our new record is called We: The Guillotine and is nothing like the former banner and their album. It was recorded in Nashville with Steve Austin (Converge/Lamb of God/Deadguy) and is dirty and punk and is metal and is a testament to who we are as people. It’s fast like the Millennium Falcon, aggressive like a pack of hyenas, and hopes to never be compared to this stupid fucking fake death and thrash movement going on right. It has guest appearances on vocals and guitar by Steve Austin on Last Name: Porter and Here There Be Monsters and another vocal appearance by Eugene Robinson of Oxbow on Here There Be Monsters and their parts are haunting. The album is ferocious."

"We just wanted to create our version of an early punk record. Like how it was when we were kids first getting into punk, metal and hardcore. No frills. No gloss. No bullshit. We had no interest whatsoever in creating fake ass death metal breakdowns or tired arpeggio sweeps or whatever stupid ass bands think the "IN" thing is these days" comments vocalist Makh Daniels

Chris’ comments on what fans should expect:

"We: The Guillotine sounds like a crash course in burning out to me. Expect an all out war on your ears for 40 minutes without brees, breakdown after breakdown or Yngwie wannabe guitar playing. You can expect music from the heart."

Track list:
1. Ballistics
2. Safety Net Acrobats
3. House N#gger
4. First Name: William
5. Rest
6. Last Name: Porter (Featuring Steve Austin)
7. The Man In Black Fled Across The Desert
8. Ghosts Among Us
9. Borrowed Teeth, Borrowed Claws
10. When Bison took its first step amps were scorched and drums were smashed. Born of the ashes of seminal Vancouver skate-thrash band S.T.R.E.E.T.S., Bison are every headbanger’s dream. Their riffs are colossal and flow like a mighty river into a sea of fuzzed out shredding. Their message is punk rock angst and revolution, with the occasional nod to white wizards, the king of swine and a mythical beast called the "Stokasaurus". Their debut album Earthbound captured their massive live sound on tape, garnering international recognition and a deal with Metal Blade Records. BISON is currently recording their Metal Blade debut Quiet Earth with Jesse Gander (3 Inches of Blood, Subhumans, Mass Grave, S.T.R.E.E.T.S.) at The Hive Studios in Burnaby, BC and are currently slated for a fall 2008 release.

Here’s what BISON has to say about their new deal with Metal Blade:
"We are pleased that our newly forged alliance with the dark lords of the blade has come to fruition. We shall slay with honor and wasted servitude. Using the awesome power of the riff, we shall lay waste, in solidarity with the legions of the righteous soldiers of metal. Now as one, we look to the future to conquer for generations to come."

“Bison has all the ingredients we look for in a successful band; strong work ethic, great live band, good support team and a sound straight out of a Bison stampeded, thundering and brutal” Metal Blade Records

BISON is:
James Farwell – Guitar/Vocals
Dan And – Guitar/Vocals
Masa Anzai – Bass
Brad Mackinnon – Drums

Catch Bison on Exclaim Magazine’s Aggressive Tendencies Tour 2008 w/ Baroness & Genghis Tron Sep. 23rd - October 2nd. More Canadian and US dates are currently in the works.

“The name is Bison, and they are heavy as fuck…” – Thrasher Magazine

“...there’s no doubting that this Canadian quartet live up to the hefty billing their choice of moniker suggests” – Metal Hammer

“One listen to Earthbound tells you that the group is serious about what its doing, two listens make you forget about hair metal, and by the third listen, even the foppiest of indie-pop fans will remember why amps go up to 10.” – The Georgia Straight

http://www.myspace.com/bisoneastvan

Pre-order WHITECHAPEL’s This is Exile and receive an autographed CD booklet and t-shirt

Head over to www.newburycomics.com to pre-order Whitechapel’s July 8th release This is Exile and receive an autographed CD booklet and t-shirt while supplies last. Go HERE for details. Make sure to catch Whitechapel live this summer as they tour the US on the Summer Slaughter tour alongside label mates The Black Dahlia Murder.

Whitechapel stands out in today’s overcrowded metal scene due in part to their ability to fuse memorable and even groovy riffs with crushing breakdowns, tremolo picking at neck breaking speeds, and incredibly evil and dissonant sounds. Their songs demand repeated listens and gang vocals at shows are common place. Metal Maniacs even took note of the band’s unique approach to metal guitars and their incredible work ethic: “A noted characteristic is Whitechapel’s three guitar assault; without a doubt an impressive apocalyptic sound. Propelled by the band’s DIY ethics, Whitechapel is a driving force that will continue to grow through hard work and determination.”

WHITECHAPEL
Summer Slaughter Tour
w/ The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, and more!!!
06/27 Worcester, MA The Palladium
06/28 Sayreville, NJ Starland Ballroom
06/29 Richmond, VA The National
06/30 Spartanburg, SC Ground Zero
07/01 Atlanta, GA The Masquerade
07/02 St. Petersburg, FL Jannus Landing
07/04 San Antonio, TX The White Rabbit
07/05 Houston, TX Meridian
07/06 Dallas, TX House of Blues
07/07 Odessa, TX Dos Amigos not part of tour w/ The Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon
07/08 El Paso, TX Club 101
07/09 Albuquerque, NM Sunshine Theatre
07/10 Phoenix, AZ Marquee Theatre
07/11 Los Angeles, CA House of Blues
07/12 Bakersfield, CA The Dome
07/13 San Diego, CA Soma
07/15 San Francisco, CA The Fillmore
07/16 Sparks, NV The New Oasis
07/17 Portland, OR Hawthorne Theater
07/18 Seattle, WA Studio Seven
07/19 Spokane, WA The Big Easy
07/20 Boise, ID The Big Easy
07/21 Salt Lake City, UT Avalon Theatre
07/23 Denver, CO Cervantes Ballroom
07/24 Omaha, NE Sokol Underground
07/25 Minneapolis, MN First Avenue
07/26 Milwaukee, WI The Rave
07/27 Sauget, IL Pop's
07/28 Chicago, IL House of Blues
SUMMER SLAUGHTER CANADA
Tour w/ Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Beneath The Massacre, and more!!!
08/14 Quebec City, QC Imperial Theater
08/15 Montreal, QC Club Soda
08/16 Toronto, ON The Opera House
08/18 Thunder Bay, ON Kilroy's
08/19 Winnipeg, MB Garrick Centre at Marlborough
08/20 Regina, SK Riddell Hall
08/21 Calagary, AB Warehouse
08/22 Edmonton, AB The Starlite Room
08/23 Prince George, BC Roll-A-Dome
08/25 Vancouver, BC Commodore Ballroom

http://www.myspace.com/whitechapelmetal

Another exclusive clip off CANNIBAL CORPSE’s 3disc DVD Centuries of Torment: The First 20 Years posted

A handful of select sites are running clips taken from the upcoming DVD, Centuries of Torment: The First 20 Years, each clip being exclusive to that site. It's the end of Prog Nation 2008 as we know it and we were just getting warmed up! What a tour folks, what a tour! From the first note of opening night in L.A. to the final bow of the tour, rock was in good hands at Prog Nation and will live in the great minds of music lovers and concert goers for a lifetime. Thanx to you the fans for your overwhelming enthusiasm and your into-it-ness; you are half the equation. Thanx to all four bands for being so damn cool (again, great bill Mike)! The music of these bands speaks for itself and behind the scenes we all got along famously. Its great when you actually like the people your on tour with; what a stand up bunch, bands and crew members alike- you all made it happen! Thank you Mike Portnoy and all of Dream Theater. You guys are a class act and consummate pro's as well world class musicians. I'll try not to bite too much of your stuff but I can already feel the bars of 5, 7, and 9 creeping into my mind! This tour was definitely full of good times and music, from uncle Mike visiting us in our dressing room before showtime just to listen to Joey Eppard's unique vocal warmup to the very last night of tour when I sat down at my kit for the final performance only to find a full bottle of baby powder dumped on my snare drum; probably the most explosive intro of my career…when the dust settled and I could see the snare drum head again I could see the words…"thanx for a great tour, Mike Portnoy"….no thank you and I hope Prog Nation 09' is as big a success!! The track sits alongside work from other artists such as Goldfrapp, Supergrass, Elvis Costello and Kate Bush.

Says frontman Ben McCrow "This is a very trippy, mellow track with some very subtle, clear vocals; it is on the album as a mood inducing track. The title represents moments of clarity we have occasionally, and is sandwiched between songs about drug induced chaos, it offers a relaxed state of euphoria before the listener is thrown back into the venom that is the rest of the album. Such is the way of things in our everyday lives."

'Get Dead Or Die Trying' will be released July 8th 2008!

http://www.myspace.com/therotted

AMON AMARTH announce new song titles

AMON AMARTH have announced some new song titles from their yet to be titled new album, slated to be released in the fall. We'll also be incorporating the abilities of Zach Ohren for the recording of the drums! The album's title is being withheld until we decide to warn the public, but so far here are a few choice song titles of which we'll be playing at all the shows this week "Tooth Enamel & Concrete", "Regret & the Grave", "We Are Horrible People" & "The Body Farm".

Once again Wes Benscoter will be handling the art and we've already done a truly disturbing photo shoot that yielded a bounty of gore and the brutality of human existence for use in the layout which will be done by our graphic guru, Cain!”

CATTLE DECAPITATION to debut new songs this month to live audiences in CA!
After 6 months of hibernating constructing new songs for their upcoming album, due late in the year via Metal Blade Records, CATTLE DECAPITATION will schedule a weeks worth of dates to debut the new material in front of a live audience. These new songs will feature the most recent addition and talent of drummer David McGraw to the song writing process.

Vocalist Travis Ryan commented on the new material:
“The guys have been writing like crazy, we're already 4 songs in! I've got lyrics to a couple and we'll be playing ‘em at the upcoming shows! All I can say is this new stuff is completely insane. We have reached a new level of intensity that in my opinion completely annihilates anything we've ever done. That goes for the first 2 Cattle records as well! The follow up to the band’s acclaimed 2006 release III: In the Eyes of Fire is scheduled to drop this October via Metal Blade Records.

UNEARTH is currently recording at MA’s System Recording Studios with producer Adam Dutkiewicz, while the album’s drum tracks are being laid to tape by drummer Derek Kerswill (Kingdom of Sorrow, Seemless) at Zing Studios. The as-yet-untitled record is said to feature the band’s “most dynamic material to date,” combining strong tension and release, abundant guitar solos and a bulldozing power-groove.

“HEAVY METAL SHRED MAYHEM! NOW WITH 50% MORE GUITAR SOLOS!! If the new Unearth songs were laundry detergent, then this is what it would say on the box,” dishes UNEARTH lead guitarist Buz McGrath. “Fortunately for all you metal maniacs, it's not laundry soap but a mind-blowing journey consisting of epic mosh and shred, so we had to call in the one man who could wrangle such a massive beast - Adam Dutkiewicz. We are very excited to be working with him again and between 40 oz. chugging and doing burn-outs in Ken's '82 Corvette, we are recording what will definitely be the best album of our career.”

A “teaser” look at UNEARTH working in the studio can be accessed via the band’s MySpace page at this location. Additional looks at the recording of the album, including fly-on-the-wall video footage, riffs and excerpts of new music will be made available in the coming weeks.

UNEARTH formed in 1998 and in the decade since, has become one of the U.S.’ most proven metal bands, shifting over 400,000 units over the course of its career. The group’s tireless touring schedule has seen it perform alongside some of the genre’s most revered names (including tours with Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne as part of Ozzfest [2004 and 2006] and a 2007 U.S. tour as hand-picked direct support for thrash titans Slayer), and also headline venues the world over, consistently helping give rise to some of extreme music’s fresh blood in the process. In 2007, UNEARTH contributed a song, titled "The Chosen", to the popular film Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, appearing on the movie’s standout soundtrack amidst contributions from Andrew W.K., Mastodon, The Hold Steady and more.

On August 1, UNEARTH will make a special main stage appearance at the 2008 Wacken Open Air Festival. “Wacken” is the largest exclusively metal music festival in the world and will see UNEARTH share the stage with Iron Maiden, At the Gates, Carcass and more.

In addition to McGrath, UNEARTH features vocalist Trevor Phipps, guitarist Ken Susi, bassist John Maggard and drummer Derek Kerswill.

"The talent within the band is obvious...brutish melodies...guitar runs that are as creative as they are powerful...a major force" – BLENDER

“Thrash titans” – MTV NEWS

"big, chunky riffs, raspy throat-roar vocals, baterram drums...an innate sense for the theatrical...like better-produced 80s skateboard-thrash...pretty great" - VILLAGE VOICE

“challenging and non-repetitive without relinquishing one iota of aggro attitude” – GUITAR WORLD

"wildly thrashing and charismatic" - LA WEEKLY

“stunning" - REVOLVER

“Unearth are one of the very best at what they do...At The Gates and In Flames disciples will bask in the galloping rhythms and the dizzying depths of guitarists Ken Susi and Buz McGrath's ever-intertwined riffs and electrifying lead acrobatics...go metal-thrashing mad" - ALTERNATIVE PRESS

"dark, hard and heavy...a tight assembly of Maiden riffs, blast beats and rocky road breakdowns" – DECIBEL

“Boldly venomous” – METAL EDGE

http://www.unearth.tv/
http://www.myspace.com/unearth

Preview THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s ‘Everything Went Black’ Video exclusively on HeadbangersBlog.com

Make sure to head over to HeadbangersBlog.com to check out the brand new video from The Black Dahlia Murder for the track Everything Went Black off the band’s latest release Nocturnal. The video was directed by David Brodsky of MyGoodEye and is based off of George A. Romero’s 1982 classic horror film Creepshow. The video will receive its worldwide TV premier this Saturday, June 21st on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball. Check local listings for times.

Here’s what vocalist Trevor Strnad has to say about the band’s latest video:

Just in time for the big Summer Slaughter tour, it is our pleasure to present our seventh music video, “Everything Went Black”! After the last two videos were comprised of live/goofing around footage, we wanted to do something different this time around. The Creepshow theme was an idea of Brian’s, and I think it was the perfect way to represent what we’re all about… classic horror elements, and ridiculous amounts of fun. The video was directed by Dave Brodsky, who was selected for his prior involvement with The Red Chord, and we are very stoked with the outcome. He did a really great job with recreating the campy comic book vibe of the old Creepshow series. For any of you new jacks that aren’t familiar with Creepshow, you better get your asses in gear and check it out! I must commend Dave for tolerating my most horrible acting skills (“Dude, you smiled in EVERY part!”) and John K for being the best actor this horror business has ever seen. Stay morbid and we’ll see you soon!

http://www.myspace.com/blackdahliamurde

GOJIRA frontman talks about new album, the state of Earth, pronouncing the name

France’s metal titans GOJIRA are currently finishing the band’s forthcoming album, ‘The Way of All Flesh,’ which is currently slated for an October 14 release in North America through Prosthetic Records. The follow-up to the critically-acclaimed ‘From Mars To Sirius,’ the album will be available throughout Europe one day earlier through Listenable Records.

GOJIRA frontman Joe Duplantier recently spoke with MTV’s Chris Harris about the upcoming record. An excerpt from the conversation: "That's the theme — it's about death itself," explained. "It's also about the immortality of the soul. That's the main subject for us. Since we started to play and release albums, we've always talked about the same thing: the soul.

“This album's got a more dramatic feel to it, and some of the lyrics are almost cynical," continued Duplantier. "Usually, with my lyrics, I'm always positive. But on this album, I'm so pissed off with the situation on Earth right now, how we're abusing so much, and we take everything that we can take from the ocean, and we kill off endangered species. So in some of the songs, it's almost like a requiem for the Earth. This record is a lot darker — like, a lot darker, I would say. The music is darker and more violent." To read the article in whole, visit this week’s edition of MTV’s Metal File (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1589683/20080619/id_0.jhtml).

“Fiendishly original and disgustingly heavy, Gojira are everything that a metal band should be in 2005. This, the French quartet's third album, is a masterpiece; a monumental collision between pneumatic drill riffage, a half-man-half-machine percussive onslaught and the otherworldly, portentous atmospheres of Killing Joke at their overpowering best.” - 4Ks, Kerrang magazine

“This is a band comfortable with their roots in death metal, and as adept as anyone in deploying heavyweight blastbeat ballast or a burst of scything staccato riffage, but with a fascination, both lyrically and sonically, with all things elemental and cosmic that takes their brutality skyward in a distinctly refreshing manner.” – Terrorizer magazine

"massively heavy but varied and surprising, never monotonous" – 9/10, Blabbermouth.net

"monstrous, alien endgame chords, forged in fires of ice and honed to hyperjazz perfection." – Decibel magazine

“If you ever wished an amalgamation of Fear Factory, Morbid Angel, Death, Sepultura, and Meshuggah was to be created, FROM MARS TO SIRIUS is the closest thing that makes that fantasy a reality.” – Metal Maniacs

“Gojira are positioning themselves to be underground metal’s next rising stars. The band’s American debut, From Mars To Sirius, was one of 2006’s most inventive albums, and on this their second tour of the states, they were mesmerizing, easily winning over the capacity crowd with their enthusiasm, effortlessness and sheer volume…Joe Duplantier’s infectious, carefree personality proving that extreme music can also be pretty damn fun.” – KNAC.com

SUSPYRE sign to Sensory Records - band auditions going on now

Sensory Records is proud to announce the signing of New Jersey's up-and-coming prog metal all-stars Suspyre. Formed in 2001, these talented, young musicians have discovered an energetic and gifted way of combining progressive rock and symphonic metal with classical and jazz fusion. The bands' new album When Time Fades... will be released September 30, 2008.

"We are all very excited about signing to Sensory Records" says Gregg Rossetti, guitarist and founder/composer of Suspyre. "The high-caliber musicians on this label have inspired our band to become what it is and we are now proud to be a part of their family."

October 2005 marked the release of the band's first full-length album, The Silvery Image. Response to the album was so positive that the band was signed to Nightmare Records and followed up with the release of their next album, A Great Divide, in March 2007. The album hit the top 2007 prog metal album charts on websites such as USA Progressive Music, ProgPalaceRadio.com, and Beyond Ear Candy.

To further their goal to develop and perfect their fusion of varied musical inspirations and influences, Suspyre has recorded a third album, When Time Fades... This album is a groovier piece of art with a bit more metallic crunch, and even more variety in the song styles, including an acoustic piece. No one can accuse this band of being formulaic in their composing. When Time Fades... has set the bar even higher than the band's previous albums, not only in music creation but also in the artwork done by Gustavo Sazes (Firewind, Dark Empire, Mystic Prophecy) , and featured guest artists that include drummer Charlie Zeleny (Behold the Arctopus, Blotted Science, Jordan Rudess), and female vocalist Trisha O'Keefe (Amaran's Plight).

Suspyre is also currently trying out musicians for two new positions, seeking a drummer and a keyboardist to fill the line-up of their band for live performances (see below for full audition info).

---------------------

INFORMATION ABOUT AUDITIONS

Applicants MUST possess the following:
1. Fans are encouraged to call in to speak with the band at 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). For a station near you and for information regarding how to log onto the Internet for the broadcast go to www.RocklineRadio.com.

The band is currently #15 on the Active Rock radio charts with their latest single, “Never Enough.” FFDP’s previous single, “The Bleeding,” stayed in the Active Rock Top 10 for six weeks. “Never Enough” is getting great airplay all over the country, including WIIL/Chicago, KEGL/Dallas, WRIF/Detroit, KISW/Seattle, KUPD/Phoenix, KXXR/Minneapolis, KBPI/Denver, KOMP/Las Vegas, WJRR/Orlando, WRZX/Indianapolis, and WBUZ/Nashville, Music Choice, and more!!! Recently added stations include WHRL/Albany, KIOZ/San Diego, and WTPT/Greenville.

Five Finger Death Punch will be heading out this summer on the inaugural Rockstar MAYHEM Festival Tour. The band has secured a spot on the Jagermeister Second Stage, alongside Machine Head and Airbourne. The tour, which features headliners Slipknot, Disturbed, Mastodon, and Dragonforce, will be kicking off July 9 in Seattle, WA.

FFDP is touring to support The Way of the Fist, which has sold over 137,000 copies since its August 2007 release. The album debuted at #165 on the Billboard Top 200 and was #5 on the Top New Artist Chart. The video for “The Bleeding” has over 1 million plays on YouTube.

Five Finger Death Punch was an underground phenomenon even before it exploded onto the Family Values Tour in 2007. Their “old-school-meets-new-school” metal was the talk of the scene, creating quite a ripple in the underground. Upholding the traditional songwriting values with the support of today’s modern sound and dynamics has paid off for FFDP. On the Rockstar MAYHEM fest this summer, audiences will see why Metal Edge calls Five Finger Death Punch “the sound of violent exhilaration, giving contemporary metal a belligerent shove in an exciting direction.”

www.myspace.com/ffdp

Five Finger Death Punch tour dates:

6/28 – Las Vegas, NV – House of Blues

6/29 – Tucson, AZ – The Rock

6/30 – Farmington, NM – Big City Night Club

7/2 – Council Bluffs, IA – WestFair Amphitheatre

7/4 – Milwaukee, WI – Summerfest

7/5 – Indianola, IA – Indianola National Balloon Launch

Five Finger Death Punch on the Rockstar MAYHEM Festival Tour:

7/09 – Seattle, WA – White River Amphitheatre

7/11 – Sacramento, CA – Sleep Train Amphitheatre

7/12 – San Francisco, CA – Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View

7/13 – Devore, CA – Glen Helen Pavilion

7/15 – Fresno, CA – Save Mart Center

7/16 – San Diego, CA – Coors Amphitheatre

7/18 – Phoenix, AZ – Cricket Wireless Pavilion

7/19 – Albuquerque, NM – Journal Pavilion

7/20 – Denver, CO – Coors Amphitheatre at Fiddler’s Green

7/22 – Kansas City, MO – Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

7/23 – St. Louis, MO – Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

7/25 – Dallas, TX – Superpages.com Center

7/26 – San Antonio, TX – Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

7/27 – Houston, TX – Sam Houston Race Park

7/29 – Tampa, FL – Ford Amphitheatre

7/30 – West Palm Beach, FL – Cruzan Amphitheatre

8/01 – Virginia Beach, VA – Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheatre

8/02 – Pittsburgh, PA – Post Gazette Pavilion

8/03 – Uniondale, NY – Nassau Coliseum

8/05 – Boston, MA – Tweeter Center for Performing Arts

8/06 – Scranton, PA – Toyota Pavilion

8/08 – Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Downsview Park

8/09 – Detroit, MI – DTE Energy Music Theatre

8/10 – Chicago, IL – First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre

8/12 – Atlanta, GA – Lakewood Amphitheatre

8/13 – Indianapolis, IN – Verizon Wireless Music Center

8/15 – Camden, NJ – Susquehanna Bank Center

8/16 – Hartford, CT – New England Dodge Music Center

8/17 – Washington, DC – Nissan Pavilion

8/19 – Buffalo, NY – Darien Lake Performing Arts Center

Five Finger Death Punch Headlining Dates:

8/22 - Jacksonville, NC - Hooligan’s Music Hall

8/23 - Fayetteville, NC - Jester’s Pub

CHRISTIAN DEATH tour ongoing

Working their way from the East Coast to the Midwest and Canada, industrial goth-rock gods Christian Death are out supporting their latest album and Season of Mist debut, American Inquisition. The deal includes not only the group's brand-new studio album, Torn, which will arrive in September, but also Evergrey's complete back-catalog. SPV Head of Labels, Ulrike Rudolph says: "We are all happy to welcome Evergrey to the SPV/Steamhammer Family, and are looking forward to a great future together." Evergrey mastermind Tom S. Englund is also looking forward to a productive cooperation with Steamhammer, explaining: "After long and intense negotiations, we feel that we have arrived at optimum conditions for everybody involved. We are confident that Evergrey will continue to grow artistically under the terms of this contract, that SPV will enjoy our cooperation and - this is definitely the most important aspect - that our fans will thoroughly benefit from the new deal."

The first stage of this ambitious target will see the release of Evergrey's new studio album, Torn, at the beginning of September, featuring eleven compositions, described by Englund as a "modern mix of In Search Of Truth and Recreation Day". "The tracks are all guitar-oriented and very atmospheric. They have exactly the sound that our fans expect from us." According to Englund, the slightly more experimental direction of Evergrey's previous release, Monday Morning Apocalypse, has given way again to old strengths and virtues. "Two years ago we needed an album with a slightly different approach and an expensive producer, just to find out how that sort of thing works. It was the right album at the time, but now we have returned to our typical trademarks." This is one of the reasons why the tracks on Torn were self-produced by Englund together with drummer Jonas Ekdahl. In addition, the band has a new bassist, Fredrik Larsson having been replaced by former Stratovarius musician Jari Kainulainen.

Since the band arrived on the scene in 1998, Evergrey have brought out six studio albums and one live cut. All of them made the top 20 in their native Sweden and the last two made the top 10 (no. 6 and 3, respectively). On top of that, their DVD was number 1 for four weeks and nominated for a Grammy in Sweden. The band has toured around the globe several times, together with In Flames, Nevermore, Throwdown, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom and Iced Earth, among others. Along with Torn, their new contract with Steamhammer/SPV includes the band's complete back-catalog, so top-quality reissues featuring a selection of bonus tracks are likely in future. "There is so much additional material for each album that we could theoretically re-release it on an extra DVD. Whatever we manage to do – premium reissues are certainly a possibility."

http://www.evergrey.net
http://www.myspace.com/officialevergrey
http://www.spvusa.com
http://www.myspace.com/spvusa

BLACK MARKET ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCES THE SIGNING OF SWEET COBRA

Black Market Activities proudly announces the addition of Sweet Cobra to the family. The band’s Hawthorne Street Records release, “Forever,” will be reissued through Black Market Activities on June 24.

Sweet Cobra will play day two of “Dudefest” in Indianapolis on June 21 at Zanies Too.

An admiration for ‘70s inspired groove rock and remnants of a hardcore driven past brewed the foundation for Sweet Cobra. The mind-boggling grooves and sludgy, down-trodden guitar riffs make avoiding toe-tapping nearly inescapable. Driven by murky grooves, Sweet Cobra incorporates the disgruntled fervor of hardcore as the finishing touch.

Sweet Cobra formed in 2002 with drummer Jason Gagovski (Suicide Note) and vocalist/bassist Botchy Vasquez (The Killer, Challenger). Guitarists Robert Lanham and Matt Arluck later joined on to complete the line up. The band made its debut on Seventh Rule Recordings with “Praise,” introducing Sweet Cobra’s boundary defying sound. Picking up where “Praise” left off is 2007’s “Forever,” originally released through Hawthorne Street Records. “Forever” offers eight songs, encompassing a similar reefer madness, with production by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles) and mixed by Sanford Parker (Minsk, Buried at Sea) at Volume Studios.

Sweet Cobra has shared the stage with Mastodon, Pelican, Converge, High on Fire, Isis, Coalesce and many, many more.

Check out Sweet Cobra on the band’s Myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/sweetcobra

The Cancer Bats Announce US Tour w/ Bullet For My Valentine, In Support of Hail Destroyer out June 24th on Black Market

Cancer Bats are one of the few bands that can successfully satisfy all tastes. - Exclaim!

A very solid album with a cohesive sound and direction that will satisfy the metal fan in a punk kid and the punk kid in a metal fan. - Subba-Cultcha.com

An explosive metal-inspired post-hardcore collection of songs. - Punknews.org

The Great White North gives us a blast of pummeling riffs and jagged tempos as Toronto's own Cancer Bats gear up for the release of their much awaited sophomore full length Hail Destroyer on Black Market Activities. Hail Destroyer sees Cancer Bats mature sonically and evolving as they incorporate the past, present of hardcore while they pave out its future.

From the fury of proto punk acts like Black Flag and Minor Threat as they tip their hats to the indie-core legends of the late 80's and early 90's such as Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu and Jawbox and remain cut from a somewhat similarly coarse cloth of today's movers and shakers in the realm of post-hardcore such as Young Widows, Pissed Jeans and Fucked Up to name a few. Make no mistake as Cancer Bats aren't here to be lumped into a pigeonhole as their charging riffs and blaring anthem-like hooks ample for fist pumping and whirlpool circle pits perches them on a wholly unique level.

Swooping like a rabid bat out of, uh, Canada, Cancer Bats give a rowdy and defiant clobbering to the eardrums all the way down to the bone. Consider yourself warned as we aren't responsible for anything broken or destroyed within earshot of whatever stereo this album is playing from.

Hail Destroyer Tracklist
1. The Ocean main man, Robin Staps, has been chronicling their experiences for MetalKult.com.

Here’s an excerpt from Robin’s first update from the road:
“As a European in America, you sometimes feel alienated. I have been here many times before and have actually lived in the States for a year, and still I don't get used to certain aspects of life here. No drinking in the streets! That's ridiculous... walking out of the venue with a beer in my hands, I had bouncers chase me every night since I got here, I just keep forgetting it cause it's so unreal for me. If anyone tried to make that a law in Germany there would be riots in the streets! In a city like Berlin you will see flocks of people just sitting out on the streets at night drinking and talking and partying until the early morning hours. In Madrid they call it botellones, meeting up with your friends in a park with a stereo or a guitar and a few bottles of red wine. It's a part of culture; it's unimaginable to do without. And despite all this, I don't get the impression that there are fewer alcoholics in America than in Spain or Germany.”

Head to MetalKult.com to check out the entire first installment of Robin’s diary, including photos and more of what life is like on the road for The Ocean!

You can also check out a hilarious video interview with The Ocean in Hungary HERE. The Fresh Meat Tour, presented by MetalSucks.net, featuring The Absence, The Destro, Epicurean, and Rose Funeral will kick off on June 19th in Richland, New Jersey.

"We're really excited to have Bill out with us on the Metal Blade Fresh Meat Tour. We think Bill’s a great fit and we're really excited to hit the road and play some shows with him!” Epicurean

"It will be a pleasure to share the stage (and the bus) with Epicurean during the Fresh Meat Tour in June/July. They are my favorite band to come out through Metal Blade in a while, and I'm excited to see how this will work out. I'm sure this will be really fun, plus it's great to be back in the Metal Blade family!" Bill Hudson

Epicurean utilizes a feverish twin guitar attack, viciously heavy vocals mixed with clean melodic vocals, a brutal rhythm section, and keyboards to create their brand of unique symphonic, yet aggressive music.

“Power metal in structure and death metal in drum beats, A Consequence of Design is a colossal record that gallops without letup as if the devil were hot on Epicurean’s heels.” - Metal Maniacs Magazine

“Epicurean’s sound veers from Mercenary-like grandeur to Hypocrisy-style bludgeon, with plenty of Bodom bite and Amott widdle…” – Terrorizer

“even a single listen to A Consequence of Design reveals a band that is made up of extremely talented musicians and songwriters… melodic and at times symphonic, made up of tight, syncopated rhythms and enriched with layers of lush keyboards, pianos, and soaring lead guitar work… With this amount of power, beauty, skill, and intensity wrapped up into a single, tuneful package, A Consequence of Design makes an impressive introduction.” - Outburn

“Most importantly what Epicurean have done is brought the keyboards, melodies, and a fantastic understanding of metal back to life in a genre that has been belittled to breakdowns and growls.” - somethingpunk.com

“The songs are aggressive, but very catchy. The dual guitars weave intricate riffs and solos while the keyboards add the atmosphere and symphonic elements... A Consequence of Design is an interesting debut, as Epicurean shows some originality and songwriting skill.” - about.com

MetalSucks.net presents Metal Blade’s Fresh Meat Tour w/ The Absence, The Destro, EPICUREAN, and Rose Funeral
06/19 Richland, NJ Memories Lounge
06/20 Baltimore, MD Sonar
06/21 Albany, NY Valentines
06/22 Niagra Falls, ON The 4555
06/23 Toronto, ON Sneaky Dee's 19+
06/24 Brampton, ON Spot One
06/25 Sarnia, ON The Polish Alliance Hall
06/26 LaPorte, IN The Next Level
06/27 Troy, OH Staunton Garage
06/28 Detroit, MI Fischer Hall
06/29 Chicago, IL Mojoes Rock House
07/01 Des Moines, IA Vaudeville Mews no Rose Funeral
07/02 St. Louis, MO Rockstar Nightclub no Rose Funeral
07/03 Tulsa, OK The Pinkeye no Rose Funeral
07/06 McAllen, TX Smokin Aces no Rose Funeral

http://www.myspace.com/epicurean

Fourth installment of AMON AMARTH video studio diary now available

Death metal Viking’s Amon Amarth have just posted the 4th episode of studio video blogs on their MySpaceTV.com page. The track, If it Bleeds, We Can Kill It, features the voice of Ahhnold as Dutch from the movie Predator screaming back and forth with the Predator himself! “In the first verse Ahhnold is talking trash about how he's going to take Predator down, but in the second verse Predator comes back spittin' his evil game. This is the classic struggle of good and evil but with way bigger muscles and more brutal double bass. In fact, I think it's the breakdown about 1/2 way through the song that crushes Predator's evil once and for all” comments band member Tim Lambesis.

One could not pick a better track for the first single off Total Brutal. Mainly because Predator is one of the best movies ever made in the history of man and received a countless amount of awards at the 1987 Oscars (Best Actor Ever, Best Chest Explosion, Best Use of Chameleon-like Camouflage to Kill as Many People as You Can, Cast Most Likely To Go On To Be Governors, etc). Or at least we think it did. And if it didn’t then it should have seeing as Ahhnold once again saved the world, this time from aliens who wanted nothing more than to peel the skin off our bodies and make trophies out of our skulls.

Here’s what front-man Ahhnold had to say about the band’s first single:

“Most bands put all of their good songs first. Instead I decided to release track 15 first to prove that this album is Total Brutal from start to finish. If you like this song, then get ready for 17 tracks of punishing brutality when the CD finally hits.... or when I hit you in the face for not buying it. Whichever happens first, at least we know things only get better from here.”

Lyrics to If it Bleeds, We Can Kill It
Dutch:
Raaar!
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it

You’re one ugly mother and that’s why I’m talking trash
I've seen you bleed and now I know that I can kick your... ahhhh
I'm going to take you down
I'm going to take you down

Predator:
You are the hunted, you run in fear

Must I remind you that I have killed your friends
Must I remind you that your life is at it's end

Dutch:
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it

I'm going to take you down
I'm going to take you down

I've seen you bleed and that makes you just like me
The only difference between us is
You're the one who's going to die

Predator:
This is my planet now
I'm hear to hunt your kind
This is a game to me
You'll all be dead in time

Must I remind you that I have killed your friends
Must I remind you that your life is at it's end

Dutch:
I once was the hunted, but now your time is through
The tides have turned, and now I'm hunting you

If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it
If it bleeds, we can kill it

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE’s Metal Blade debut, Total Brutal, available everywhere July 22nd.

Total Brutal track listing:
1.
