The rest have a few moments, but generally lack in cohesion or vibe and are ultimately weak offerings. I saw them on the Dark Side of the Spoon tour - worst concert ever. Al walked off stage 30 mins in because he couldn't get the right guitar tone. They only played 4 songs.

RE: Ministry

I think Ministry is hit or miss. I love "Just One Fix" and "Jesus Built My Hotrod". But I have whole albums of theirs I could care less about.

And I agree, he is very politcal about it. But for me, I generally pay no attention to the actual lyrics. I enjoy the vocals in songs but hardly get into the meaning of the words.

RE: Ministry

I'm not getting into politics here, so don't think that what I'm about to say is anything political...

... But Al from Ministry would be nowhere if it wasn't for him not shutting up about how much he hates the Bush family. Ministry really were at their biggest when old Bush was president and now that young (well compared to his dad anyway) Bush is president. I think that explains itself.

I think politics in music is nothing more than a gimmick to draw in fans when those issues are relevant. I don't think politics, from either side, should be in music, or at least not so blatantly pro/anti a certain view. Like Kreator for instance, Mille makes it pretty clear in interviews what he thinks but his lyrics are impartial. That's the way it should be done. Iced Earth as well. Everyone always bashes The Glorious Burden as a political album, but it is not. It just tells history from an impartial point of view.

Ministry on the other hand cannot find anything better to write about than how much he hates Bush. Same thing with the even shittier Otep. Again, I don't care what the artist's point of view is since it is THEIR point of view, but I cannot help but feel that they are just making their songs about that for publicity and to boost sales as much as possible.

Politics are all over the TV, newspapers, well anywhere you look really. Unless the artist is going to say something that hasn't been said by everybody and their grandmothers, then find something else to write about. Music is an escape, don't try to scare people that the whole world is about to blow up.

RE: Ministry

Just One Fix is a decent song, but other than that I would be OK if they never existed.
