I don't condone fighting at all, but people need to stop following trends and think for themselves.

RE: The current state of the Hardcore scene
ramfacedboy (1/15/2007)

Dechristianize (1/12/2007)
Eye liner bullshit bands like as i lay dying
I'll disagree with that. I've seen the guys live a bunch of times, and met them twice, and I gotta say, despite being an amazing band, IMO, they're some of the nicest dudes I've met in the scene. Plus I don't really think they're "hardcore." Killswitch have definitely gone downhill... but they've made a lot of things possible for some decent bands, as well as some shitty ones. lol.
With Honor used to be amazing... The whole victory thing was a bad move... The only band still on Victory I really still have any respect for is Darkest Hour.
The hardcore scene isn't anything like what it used to be. There's no integrity anymore with all these kids getting into it, they have no appreciation for what Hardcore represents, it's become so overpopulated and bloated with, just lik eyou said, eye liner bullshit bands. More and more record labels are starting to think they can cash in on this scene, just like they have on others. We'll just have to wait and see how many bands buy into it.
Iagree with you on alot here, Darkest Hour is now the only really good band on there (along with Dead To Fall in my eyes.)

and it is also more about the lack of knowledge and respect about the kids going into the scene, I mean jesus I went to a hXc show and some emo/screamo asshole was there with his mother. They both got thrown in the pit and got the pissed knocked out of them, had to be carried out(now in this case, you get what you get for being ignorant about the show you're going to). Then, due to a fight at CLUB DEEP over a symbol, these kids threw some guy in a pit and killed him, he was a nice guy from what I hear too (R.I.P. no excuse for this)

RE: The current state of the Hardcore scene
Dechristianize (1/12/2007)
Eye liner bullshit bands like as i lay dying
I'll disagree with that. If bands like Mercyful Fate, Venom, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bathory, Bulldozer, early Sodom, Tormentor (even Mayhem were part of the first wave) etc helped invent the various sub-genres of black metal, how could the second wave bands dictate what is and what is not black metal? So Venom doesn't sound all that much like Immortal or Darkthrone, although I hear a lot of similarities (add blast beats and harsher vocals, Countess Bathory could have been on Battles In The North), that doesn't mean they are not black metal. If anything, the first wave bands are more black metal than the second and third wave bands. They pioneered the genre, sound and aesthetic, the second wave bands cannot form a sound influenced by the first wave, and completely cancel out the first wave. There would be no point to even say that there ever even was a first wave of black metal.

Then you could talk about the third wave of black metal, which is pretty different from the second wave. Does that mean that the third wave is not black metal, or that they cancel out the second wave from black metal history? No. It's just a different sound, but it is not any less or any more black metal.

RE: The current state of the Hardcore scene

venom, is actually a pretty annoying band I think. Not fucking Black Metal in any sense.

RE: The current state of the Hardcore scene

To me, real hardcore bands are the likes of Cro-Mags, DRI, SOD, the crossover bands in the 80's. Even Venom could be classified as a hardcore band at times.
Other than that, I avoid it like the plague.

The current state of the Hardcore scene

It really sucks watching the hardcore scene these days. Exspecially being very deep in the Jersey hXc scene and growing up around bands like Deadguy(formed twenty minutes from where I live), E-Town Concrete(I see Anthony in the Tattoo parlor over in Elizabeth alot), Shattered Realm, The Banner, Burnt by the Sun and many others. Also the home of Ferret records. I mean, look at With honor, class demo/first album, then they sign to victory and turn to total shit. Eye liner bullshit bands like as i lay dying, killswitch engage, and bullet for my valentine destroy it more. It's not about broken relationships, girls pants and bullshit. Hardcore, is about a life on the fucking streets an living with respect for yourself, and your loved ones. Not about sXe and having fucking X's everywhere. You think E-Town and 25 Ta Life grew up wanting to cuddle? To this I say...nay. Also, growing up in ghetto areas of Newark and Elizabeth (it's hell over there) I always felt a connection to that. A mutual respect and understanding. Other than NY and Boston, There is not a damn thing like Jersey hXc, growing up near the stone pony and watching every band come through, really gives me alot of pride and respect for the scene. So, it kills me to see bullshit labels and bullshit bands trying to cash in on something REAL, something, that means something to alot of people.

Opinions?
