True it is a more challenging listen but like you said you will probably really enjoy it once you get a chance to listen to it all without interruption.

I have only listened to it in its entirety once so far (and listened to the first half a couple of times, before I had to stop it since I was busy with something else), so I can't really judge it fairly yet.
So far, I do enjoy it, but I think I'll love it after I listen to it without interruption a few more times. It's definitely not quite as accessible or AOR influenced as WITW, which makes it a more challenging listen, and the kind of album that requires a few uninterrupted listens to really appreciate

New CD Mercy Falls is out. It is VERY good. I highly recommend it.

That's actually the first album I've tried from them. I went back to see if their previous albums were better.

But I'm not too fond of modern power metal though.

Have you tried The Black Halo? Big step up from previous releases. IMHO phenominal vocals and music.

Never really got into Roy's vocals, or Kamelot's music for that matter. There's is something lacking in his delivery.

Kinda reminds me of Roy Kahn of Kamelot. Not necessarily in the tone but in the combination of smoothness and strength, and in delivery.

I know what you mean. I also love his vocal melodies. That's part of the reason that Banish The Wicked is one of my favorite songs, and I listen to it quite a few times a day.

Listening to Waiting in the Wings right now and I must say that Tommy Karevik has one of the best voices in prog today. Very smooth yet very strong as well. He is quickly rising up my list of favorite vocalists.

The first album is different. I checked out a couple of the songs. It's darker, not quite as dynamic, and a different vocalist.
I LOVE the vocals on Waiting In The WIngs.
By my second listen, I was already singing along. Especially to Banish The Wicked. Probably one of my favorite prog songs ever.

I listened to it 5 times this week. It is easily on my top 3 of 06.

I am really digging Waiting In The Wings. It is amazing. It sounds like Asia meets Dream Theater and the first album from Time Requiem (very proggy and neo-classical since DT is not neo-classical). Very AOR sounding but still metal.
I didn't even think about this when I realized, a top releases of this year would be impossible to make. There are way too many amazing releases this year.
I will hopefully have the review of this up soon.
