I don't know a whole lot about black metal, but I'm slowly learning. I think my problem is that on a lot of it, the production is shitty. Half the time it's purposefully shitty. Although the really fanatical black metal people seem to think the stuff I like is too polished.

The black metal stuff I've really been able to get into so far has been Immortal and Gorgoroth... I also really like Enslaved and Melechesh although they're not exactly pure black metal bands.

I think they just played in my neck of the woods not too long ago. I don't go to shows much anymore, but if they come around again I'll see what I can do.

Voodoo, if you like the title track (the long song at the end of the album with that awesome 3 minute melody at the end), you should see them live. They finished with that song when I saw them. It was so hypnotic. The whole audience were all headbanging in unison with their arms raised.
