Yep. Megadeth at least tried to recover their losses after Risk. IMO, Metallica is just coasting. They are one of the biggest bands in the world and the Black Album/Load sound really worked and made them rich. Why bother when you are making bank?

Megadeth is going more for the legacy and the craftsmanship.

I agree, Megadeth has come so far, even recovering from RISK! super shit, And Metallica?? hasnt recovered yet! and thats been...10 years??? wow.

RIP was released the same year as the Crap, I mean Black, album. Countdown was 92.

As horrible as Countdown was, I'd still take it over anything Metallica did after 84

Skin O My Teeth was the best song...thats kinda sad...the 1st track is the best and the rest is kinda lame??? good way for an album to die.

(Though the title track & of course the symphony of destruction were classics...still could have been a better album)

however!!! Countdown was released (i think) the same year as Metallica's "Black" album, Megadeth's goal was to take down Metallica, I believe they have. eh?

Countdown is mainstream crap though, so you don't need to feel bad for liking this album better.

But preferring it over Peace Sells is indeed blasphemy :P

Yah, I did, I know it sounds ludicrous but i enjoy this album far more than their commercial hits such as Rust In Peace, Countdown, Even Peace Sells!! (BLASPHAMEY!!)

To each his own i suppose, I still believe this is their best (to me that is:P)

Rust In Peace wasn't that amazing. It was a very overrated album (although not to the extent of Reign In Blood, Among The Living, Chaos AD, and especially the dreadful Master Of Puppets).

Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good album, but nothing more. There was too much focus on technical mastery, not enough on songwriting. Their first two albums were really their best. So Far So Good So What and RIP are pretty much in the same category, with the latter having much better musicianship.

this may be a little much, But i think its the best they EVER released. I cant find a single bad song...even Tout Le' Monde was awesome. the only song coming close to suckiness is Amerikhistan (Spelled Right?) and thats still a great song...

A very very good album, with a few weak tracks. Dave is definatly at the top of the thrash world, again.

I like a couple of songs off of Kill Em All and Ride The Lightning, but that's it. I thought Masters Of Puppets was a terrible attempt at playing a more refined style of thrash, but with very simple, one dimensional songwriting, and average musicianship (very sloppy) at best.

And Justice For All was a very, very poor attempt at tech thrash.

:crazy: C'mon, Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets aren't THAT bad. In fact, there pretty damn good IMO. ...And Justice For All is good too. Now the rest are either sub par or down right awful.

Although I do like Megadeth's entire body of work better than Metallica's, I have to completely disagree. Master of Puppets (the song), Fade to Black, Disposable Hero's and One are incredible songs. All 4 are much better that A Tout Le Monde, or most of Risk.[/quote]

The only song from Metallica that I would say is better is Fade To Black. Other than that, I think Metallica's thrash albums were some of the most mediocre, sub-par, overrated, utter wastes to have ever been released. I actually threw out Master Of Puppets when I first put it on my stereo

Dave said something about giving the song a fresh prespective or something lame. The song didn't need to be revisioned. It's perhaps the only flaw with the album IMO.

I agree.

Yes, Metallica are sucky douchebags now, but I haven't let that completely discredit their earlier work.

Metallica's Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All are all in my top 5 metal albums ever, but then again, so is Rust in Peace. I love just about all of Megadeth's stuff up to Youthanasia. I also don't think Cryptic Writings was that bad. Risk really sucked though. I liked a few songs off of The System Has Failed ("Kick the Chair" is awesome!) but then I thought the rest of it was crap.

I'm not that impressed with United Abominations, and I have no idea why they felt they had to remake A Tout Le Monde, and then on top of that, release it as the first single.
