Can't stand them now, but their first 4 albums are on my top 10 of all time.

Megadeth had some amazing earlier records as well. I too really enjoyed Countdown and Youthanasia, though they weren't really thrash albums, but people have been saying that about Metallica past Kill 'em All. I hated most of Risk. Some of the songs on the new album are okay, but still not amazing. Better "comeback" than St. Anger though. One of my fav Megadeth "albums" is Hidden Treasures... they've had a ton of amazing soundtrack songs.

Testament would be a close third... The Legacy, The New Order, Souls of Black... all really awesome thrash.

RE: Favorite throwback Bay Area Thrash band?

Had to go with Megadeth. But, since i dont consider anything after Kill 'Em All Thrash, and arent my favourite Thrash band at all. Im going with Megadeth, with Testament, Vio-Lence and Heathen coming in close.

RE: Favorite throwback Bay Area Thrash band?
Makaveli (2/26/2006)
I went for exodus myself, ooh so now its all tied up. however I would have voted for Forbidden if they hads been on the list, (They were a Bay Area band weren't they ?)
God damn how did I forget FORBIDDEN!! KIMB, Peace Sells, SFSGSW, and Rust in Peace are thrash classics...especially Rust, that album is untouchable. Not so much thrash after that, but I still love Countdown and Cryptic Writings. Their last album had its moments, I have relatively high hopes for the next one, which should come out late this year I think.

RE: Favorite throwback Bay Area Thrash band?

I voted for Megadeth. Rust in Peace and Peace Sells are 2 of the very best. However, I like the more recent Testament a lot better than the recent Megadeth. Testaments The Gathering is one of the heaviest cd's I have ever heard. So f'n good it's scary.

Favorite throwback Bay Area Thrash band?

I figured we needed more threads in the thrash section so I did this poll!!!
