Slayer - Post- Seasons Era

Honestly, aside from a few decent songs on Divine Intervention, I think everything Slayer has released after Seasons in the Abyss has been crap. Diablous and God Hates are horrible IMO. And I really couldn't get into Christ Illusion.

Anyone agree/disagree?

From the Exodus band reports that I've been reading, it seems that Gary is very happy with the recording process, for the new album... I'm sure Paul Bostaph will be pounding hard on the kit..

If the new album is anything like "Tempo Of The Damned" I will be thrilled beyond belief... Can't wait for the new record.

I just now checked out the samples on the site for the first time and they sound really good. They are currently working on a follow up to their 2006 debut.

I thought I would create a topic to discuss Arch Enemy's new release 'Doomsday Machine'. I've only had a chance to listen to the first 3 tracks, so I'll post my opinion later.

Please express your thoughts and opinions, in regard to this new Arch Enemy release.

I'll be seeing them at the Aug 7 Ozzfest show, and I've recently read that they are playing the new song 'Nemesis' during their set. I have listened to Nemesis and I like it, so that will be cool... I can't wait...

Unleash was formed in Kusadasi at the end of 2006 summer. Only Ahmet Gezer remained from the original line-up. After a short silence and a seeking for members, Ahmet realized that there's no one else for the band in the city that he live. So he decided to form a band that makes sound by the help of the internet. After an announcement the person who was firstly contacted was Ünsan Özata who is also the former member and the bassist of One More Lie.

After Nayon, the owner of the vocals in demo, joined the band, Unleash started to work on their demo “The New Consititution “. At the end of January, the demo released and took more attention than expected.

With the new line up, Unleash is stronger than before, and now more than online, Unleash is now turned to a sweating and playing band. New line-up; Berke (vocals, guitar) Ahmet(guitar, back vocals) Mert (bass guitar) Burak (drums)

Upcoming days the sound of Unleash will be the harmony of Melodic Death, and Thrash. Unleash is coming with a new sound and with a new strong line up!

I picked this band's debut (Evil in the Night) up because I heard they were a throwback thrash group and Ed Repka did the cover. It was a risky $12 purchase, but it owns. The bassist/vocalist sounds like Zetro at times.

Anyone here ever heard of Razor? I stumbled upon a few of their albums and I must say, they are the best blue-collar thrash I have ever heard. Sometimes they have lots of frill, others they are just straight up, ball out. They've been around since 1984 and their last album was released in 1997. I guess they are still around...

I highly recommend them.

I am a pretty big Testament fan, although it is mostly due to the cd's Low, Demonic and The Gathering. The early days were good, especially The New Order (INTO THE PIT!!!!) but they seem pretty repetitive. Same basic metal drum pattern with gritty riffs overtop. But those other 3 cd's are damn good. It's pretty interesting to hear the evolution of the band over the years. Chuck Billy went from thrashy vocals to death-like vocals. The music went from standard thrash metal to more detailed and varied death metal culminating with 1999' The Gathering. That cd is one of the best metal cd's I have ever heard. Granted there is a lot I have yet to hear, so there may be others that could dethrone this one. But in the meantime The Gathering continues to kick my ass left and right everytime I throw it in the player.

So, in celebration of the band and their accomplishments I will go on a Testament binge and listen to all the cd's I have today. Already listened to Demonic. Currently listening to The New Order. Next up is The Ritual.

Anthrax - Then & Now

What is your opinion on the current state of Anthrax?

Although, it is cool to see Belladonna back... I personally think the whole situation pretty much stinks. If your going to do a reunion and plan to do a new album... then my god... tell this to John Bush... What do they think they are doing... doing a reunion thing... but not being able to tell Bush or Belladonna what is going to happen in the future..

Personally, I think it is all about the money... Why else would they do it??? 1 year ago... they would not even talk to eachother... and would speeww bad shit about each other in the press all the time... but now.. they are all brothers and buddies??? It has to be the money...

If they record a new record with Belladonna... and it sucks... Anthrax is done.... for they would have nothing left too do.. where could they go???

Ok, I'll stop now... just doing a little ranting there... sorry

I've been watching this bootleg non-stop lately (from when they headlined the Dynamo festival in Eindhoven), it is simply incredible! The band sounds so raw but really tight. King's voice simply has to be heard to be believed. He sounds even better than he does on the recordings! I wish he would continue to show off live now the way he did back then! While he talks to the audience, he goes into random falsettos to show off.
Only thing that sucks about it is that it's VHS and I cannot find a DVD copy of it.

Oh, and my bass playing sounds sloppy because the bass I recorded with was lame and the strings sucked. We've only been playing together for four months, so we did what we could.

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the passing of Denis "Piggy" D'Amour of Voivod. He was a true musical innovator. He deserves so much more credit than he has gotten. So if you're a Voivod fan of any kind, at least just think of him for a minute or something tomorrow in honor of his memory.

For the first time in 15 years, Canadian thrash metal legends SACRIFICE will reunite for one-night only as headliner of Day Of The Equinox II festival taking place on Saturday, September 23, 2006 in Toronto, Ontario at the Opera House.

The band's original lineup of guitarist/singer Rob Urbinati, guitarist Joe Rico, bassist Scott Watts and drummer Gus Pynn will be performing tracks from their classic metal releases: "Torment In Fire" (1986), "Forward To Termination" (1987) and "Soldiers of Misfortune" (1990).

Interest in SACRIFICE's music has peaked over the last year or so thanks in part to the hard work from Brazil's Marquee Records. The label has already re-released "Torment In Fire" and "Forward To Termination" as double CDs in limited-edition hand-numbered slipcases that contain massive booklets with liner notes, live pictures and personal comments from the band. The "Soldiers of Misfortune" re-issue will surface sometime this spring.

Returning to North America by special invitation will be Sumerian thrashing black metallers and pioneers of Mesopotamian metal MELECHESH for an exclusive North American appearance in direct support of SACRIFICE. MELECHESH is excited to be returning to North America to showcase material from their forthcoming album "Emissaries" (release date TBA). Also performing will be Earache recording artists USURPER, who will bring their old school style of fist-banging heavy metal to the event. Local old school thrash metallers RAMMER will open the event.

About returning to the stage for DOTE II, Urbinati says, "This is going to be a great experience for all of us in the band and our fans that have always shown support for us over the years. This show is for them. What an incredible rush it will be to get back on stage with the original SACRIFICE and watch the pit go nuts!"
