Well, the more I listen to Prevail, the less I like it. It sounds like the band was trying to appease the long time fans of the hyper stuff yet hold on to the new guys who dug the thickness of ItAoD. So the album gets a bit unfocused at times...

It's good, but nothing special IMO.

Prevail took me a couple of days to get into some of the songs, but once I did I now enjoy the entire album.

Katalysm are playing in Sydney next week as headliners of a Metal Festival over the easter weekend..........although the festival is in a club.....Unable to go though which is a shame as i think they will be brutal.

I think you can go wrong with everything prior to Epic. But that's just me.

About a month or two ago, I found out that Kataklysm would come to Pittsburgh on the Trendkiller Tour (2007). About two weeks ago, I found out that someone removed Pittsburgh from the tour. I felt really sad about not seeing such an awesome band, but listening to "In the Arms of Devastation" makes up for it.

I predicted wrong about the new Kataklysm growing on me. I actually think it's awful. :D I wrote a very scathing review of it on amazon.com, I guess luckily for the band it was already reviewed positively on this website.

Personally I would have preferred a slightly heavier overall sound on "In the Arms of Devastation," but the songwriting is great and I think it is the sort of album that will grow on me with each listen. Serenity in Fire and Shadows and Dust are both very good, I also have almost all their old stuff but I haven't listened to it too much yet.

I didn't even know it was released yet. I can't wait to get it though. I love all their albums. They mix melodic and brutal death metal together perfectly.

I listened to Kataklym's new album "In The Arms Of Devastation" this morning. It was a quick listen, but sounds pretty good. I'll have to listen in more detail the next time.

Anyone else heard this album yet?

OK, checked out a few samples from www.cdconnection.com and I like what I hear. It's hard to get the full effect with the sound quality but it was good enough to say that I am intrigued.

I haven't heard to much from them myself, but I got to see them live once and they were pretty good. There album Shadows & Dust is a must, probably best thing they ever made. I also have Epic. Poetry of War its ok but kind of repatitive.
