It seems that whatever fresh ideas that Jon had left, he used up in the Gettysburg Trilogy.

Off the topic, but I just felt like mentioning that I also can't stand it when people bash Ripper, and praise Barlow. Ripper is a far more versatile vocalist than Barlow ever was, and his range completely wipes the floor with him. Ripper can hit lower notes, and higher falsetto notes, and with much greater ease. Not to mention that Barlow's falsetto was pretty crappy, and he lost a lot of power and stamina whenever he hit higher notes. He also couldn't really pull off the more aggressive vocals all that well. He is best suited for the more ballad, and less aggressive songs.

Ripper also does show quite a bit of emotion in his voice, but only when the song calls for it. Like with When The Eagle Cries, or with the Gettysburg Trilogy. If a song is meant to be more aggressive, of course his voice will not be dripping with emotion.

I'm not going to say that he's necessarily my favorite vocalist for Iced Earth, but he is the best that the band has had. Personally, my favorite IE vocalist was Gene Adams.

Don't get me wrong though, Barlow is a very good vocalist. It's just that Owens is far superior

RE: Iced Earth's new EP, Overture of the Wicked

Still have not had the time to check it out. If they were to put out songs from the new album, Instead of 3 "re-hashes" this would have been so much better...I must say that im not by ANY MEANS bashing IE, they're one of my favorite bands (4th fave to be precise) But, Tim just didnt live up to my expectations on the "reworks" of the Old IE tracks. Tim needs to stick with new material...(If i EVER see a "Days Of Purgatory Pt.2" im gonna kill someone...) :D

RE: Iced Earth's new EP, Overture of the Wicked

I didnt excite me on my initial listen, but Im starting to really dig it now. Tim is great as always, and Ten Thousand Strong is his best song with IE so far. I think Framing Armagedon will end up being one of those "Im surprised how good this album actually is, I was expecting total shit." Im starting to get anxious, so far this has been a great year for metal.

RE: Iced Earth's new EP, Overture of the Wicked

I am anxiously looking forward to their new EP. I hear Tim will be singing Birth Of The Wicked, Prophecy & Coming Curse. The latter 2 should be funny. :P

I'm also waiting for thier supposed tour plans.
