I just got my hands on a couple of their CD's and I really like them. They do deserve some more recognition.

Ha - how nice I found this thread again.

Mercenary just finished their first European Headliner Tour and I visited three gigs - And it was a blast!!!!!!!
They are such a great live band - great stageacting and extremly down to earth!

I had a terribly nice interview with frontman Mikkel about the tour, some months ago one about the CD with keyboardist Morten.

I hope they will have their breakthrough now - after so many years, the guys really deserve it :)

When I first listened to The Scattering of Ashes, honestly, I wasn't that impressed. I've been listening to it a lot lately and it has really grown on me. I'm going to see these guys on Monday night for the 4th time. Their live performances are amazing, and Destruction is headlining, so I'm quite excited. IE is supposed to do a 45 minute set. They usually get 20-30 minutes, so this is fantastic news!! Stu's vocals are right on every time, and Tim's backup vocals aren't lacking either. This is a very unqiue band; they've found the perfect lineup to highlight all of their talent. I'm gonna miss Rob though...

Absolutely loved Everblack and adored 11 Dreams, but Hours that Remain was a disappointment for some reason. Seemed as if things had gone a bit stale or something; not as memorable as the two previous albums. Kinda like they were trying too hard to prove a point. I'm sure it had something to do with the line changes and I'm equally sure they'll improve the next time around (knocks wood).

I actually haven't heard Monday Morning Apocalypse either yet. I really want to check it out though. Evergrey is amazing. The Inner Circle was a real masterpiece.
I also love their guitar work. Two neo-classical guitarists that play very tasteful leads. That is very rare.
Not to mention they have Andy LaRocque as a guest guitarist on half their albums :D

I also have not heard the latest Into Eternity. I heard a couple of songs and they sound awesome. Their new vocalist has an amazing range as well.

Just heard My Secret Window from The Hours that Remain CD and it was very good. Kind of an Evergrey/Into Eternity vibe. Funny thing is I am not a huge fan on Into Eternity and I still have not heard the latest from Evergrey, Monday Morning Apocalypse.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find this one.

I remember my eyes weren't on the tv when their song came on and I thought it sounded familiar, but I can't remember who I thought it was...seems like I thouht Into Eternity or maybe even Cellador? It has been awhile though and I've listened to a lot of metal over my holiday break, so I could be way off on this one. :D

Okay, this thread is almost a year old, and I just recently discovered Mercenary. How's this possible! I've only heard one song that's played on Music Choice quite a bit, but I like it! It looks like they have several albums; any suggestions as to where I should start?

Music is Great . The vocals could use some Variety. I hear a lot of the same style in EACH and every song . Not bad though .Nice tunes.

Though now that I think about it, some techno isn't too bad. I like new age and some of that relaxing kind of music, if that's considered as techno or electronica, is pretty good. But the kind of techno that you and I are talking about is pure shit. Most alternative rock isn't really music either since even though they use instruments they don't necessarily know how to play them. Like old Venom and Celtic Frost played much better than Linkin Park or Limp Bizket ever could. I don't even know how rap was ever considered as music. It's basically just electronic beats and rhythmic talking/rhyming. But the part I really cannot figure out is how all that other stuff sells millions of albums in one year yet highly skilled metal gods have to work day jobs just to support their music. It really shows true dedication.

I'm very open minded to all peoples and cultures... but I do agree with you... Rap, HipHop & Techo are not music... I may not like Alternative Rock but they are bands that play instruments... so, they might fit into the "music" category... lol ;)

I think some Manowar, Exodus and Mercyful Fate are sooo metal that just putting their CDs in a CD-rom drive would not only cleanse it of the (c)rap, it would even cleanse the surface that the CD-rom drive sits on.

I would have had a heart attack. I would expect to hear metal and instead I hear some guy talking, which is what (c)rap essentially is, about bitches and hos. I almost bought the (c)rap album but luckily I looked at the song titles before I ordered it and knew that there was no way it could be metal. Just be careful when you're ordering. I like them. They kind of remind me of Evergrey and Into Eternity. 11 Dreams is a great album. Check it out if you come across it.

I just heard about this band Mercenary. I have heard only one song called 11 Dreams, which I think is the name of the most recent cd. They are from Denmark. Sounds great. Kinda like a cross between Nevermore and Evergrey, but leaning more towards Evergrey. I think I will have to delve further into this band.
