Are they heavy metal? At times, IMO. Creatures of the Night and Revenge are pretty heavy for a rock group. Plus their impact on metal is still seen today.

Revisited [i]Demolition[/i] today and I have to say it's far from their best but not that bad. Ripper did a good job and some of the riffs are pretty cool. But there are some serious stinkers on there.

Oh well. I'd give it 6/10 now for Feed One Me, Hell is Here, Machine Man, One on One and Bloodsuckers.

Favorite "Iron Maiden" Album

Ok, this is always an interesting question.. It's cool to find out all the different preferences when it comes to the Iron Maiden material.

I chose "Powerslave" because I listen to that one the most (the production is my favorite). Obviously, "Number of the Beast" and "Piece of Mind" are a very close second for me... (I really enjoy the Di'Anno stuff as well)

Anyone heard the Iommi solo discs: Iommi, The DEP Sessions, or Fused?

Both Fused and The DEP Sessions are amazing. Vocals by Glen Huges (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath). It's more akin to Dio/Martin Sabbath than anything else, but it's unmistakenly Iommi.

Highly recommended.

There's been much speculation of a forthcoming Black Sabbath reunion with the original line-up with Ozzy Osbourne at the helm, but founding member Geezer Butler has adamantly denied such rumors.

"Heaven and Hell are currently in discussions with various record labels about recording a brand new studio album in 2008," says Butler.

Favorite Ozzy album

I added the more well known live albums of his solo career to make the list a bit more comprehensive.

I am pretty comfortable saying that Ozzy has been a huge influence on the world of metal, whether you like his music or not. These days I think he has become somewhat of a joke but his resume is incredible.

I think my favorite studio album has to be Blizzard of Oz, with Diary of a Madman a close second, and Bark at the Moon a close third. Tribute is one helluva a live album, too. With that version of I Don't Know Steal Away the Night it's hard to pass it up. But I think in the end I had to go with Blizzard.

I've taken my top 15 favorite Maiden songs, but only thsoe with Dickinson on vocals (just because I needed to narrow the choices down a little), now you get to choose your favorites from these choices.

I had a hard time adding anything from their latest because first of all there are so many other great songs in their back catalogue to choose from, and second I just have not had enough time to listen to them as much as I would like.

I just heard about this band Mercenary. I have heard only one song called 11 Dreams, which I think is the name of the most recent cd. They are from Denmark. Sounds great. Kinda like a cross between Nevermore and Evergrey, but leaning more towards Evergrey. I think I will have to delve further into this band.

A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor by the name of George Byron-Roberts has submitted the following report:

"TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy interrupted the band's set [as the support act for IRON MAIDEN] at Earl's Court, London last night [Friday, Dec. 22] to chide members of the audience after being subjected to a barrage of urine-filled balloons and bottles. Heafy and bassist Paolo Gregoletto were showered with urine during their performance of 'Like Light to the Flies'. Heafy angrily declared that the act was 'really wrong' and that if he saw anyone throwing things at the band he would see that they were 'thrown the fuck out" and 'beaten the fuck up.'

"The left hand side of the stage had been rowdy with fervent disapproval for TRIVIUM and their frontman from the beginning of their set, the band being lambasted with cries of 'death to false metal' between each of their songs; and throughout the set there was a constant exchange of rude gestures between Heafy and the antagonists. An attempt to block the missiles with a U.S. flag was shouted down by British fans, who angrily turned on the American fans, a group of young men and women who had travelled all the way from the USA to see TRIVIUM perform.

"Heafy's polemic (after battling through the rest of the song) lasted almost five minutes. However IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson was unusually quiet about the event, preferring to focus his rant on the safety of fans at the front of the crowd and the horrors of war."

ok, so this is my first topic at this forum and i would like to introduce you with a band like Triosphere.

they play fantastic heavy metal with female vocal. their songs are full of catchy melodies, but at the same time they are quite heavy and agressive, so this isn't another "cheesy" metal band. if i need to compare the sound of them with other bands, then it could be a mix of Firewind and Persuader. they released debute album on 2006. songs like Gunnin For Glory and Twilight are the best.

These days there is a lot of Metallica bashing, especially after the St. Anger fiasco. I refuse to listen to that album. You could pay me, but I wouldn't be happy about it.

Anyway, I was just listening to an MP3 cd I made of all my Megadeth and Metallica cd's and I finally got tired of Megadeth so I switched to Metallica. Master of Puppets truely is a landmark album. Not a bad song on there. My favorite song is Disposable Hero's but it is hard to deny the title track, Orion and Damage, Inc.

Now I am listening to Bleeding Me, which of course came after the sell-out of the Black album. I really don't care for much of the bands work after the Black album (I generally enjoy that one) but this song is fantastic. Has an edge to it, just like the good old days. Granted, the style of that song is like night and day compared to, say, For Whom the Bell Tolls, but damn is it good.

Nothing else to say right now, I guess. Just had to get that off my chest. Carry on.

Persuader

Well, this band really isn't new. They have 2 cd's out already. But they are not very well know, so I guess to most people they con be considered new. The band is called Persuader. Kind of thrashy, kind of power metallish, kind of a mix of a lot of style. I suppose a good reference would be Inot Eternity. Some have said the singer sounds a bit like what's his name from Blind Gaurdian. I can hear that a little bit, but this guy has more aggression.
The 2 cds are entitled The Hunter (the first release) and Evolution Purgatory (the second release).

Anyway, here is the site. There are some samples on there. My favorite is Godfather.

How does any band regardless of genre get people to listen to them? By the time a garage band like mine has enough practiced material to share with an audience, that sound should be pretty tight, but no one knows who you are unless the police is brought in on a nuisance call. Sure we have given our CD to a variety of local and non local radio stations, but let us face a sad factiod-it will not get much air play if any at all. Solution: Introduce us here! Like many bands after the development period we went through a melt down. For some extreme distances, age differences and family/other band obligations slowly outweighed the initial desire. Newark police say 31-year-old Carletti (mug shot, promotional photo) waived extradition Monday (Sept. 18).

Maiden + Metallica

How is it that Iron Maiden can release quality Metal albums almost every 2 years or so..and it takes Metallica almost 5-7 years to release something sub par?

I just thought about this, as Iron Maiden's new one "A Matter Of Life and Death" is about to be released..and from the samples I heard..it sounds great...

Last time Metallica released something it was that "Shit Anger" and now from what I hear..the next one won't be until mid next year..at the earliest???? I use to love Metallica...and I hope whenever the new one comes out..it crushes...But it seems they are dying fast...

Iron Maiden on the other hand..what can you say..Thank God for them..they are the Derek Jeter's of Metal..the Captain of our team....
