I've fallen in love with these guitars... The bodies are just too damn sexy for me. The first Aria I bought was sweet... so I thought.. hmm... what the hell, it's now completely rewired and sounding amazing... Now I bought another explorer, only 6-string this time so I can have a matching bass and guitar set.. I have future plans to continue modding both of them.. But the bass is keeping the original pickups, something about those duo-coils.. Nice rock tone to me... little noisy, but good tone.

I finally got off of my ass and started taking lessons again. Found a really cool teacher who plays with a local symphony doing this "Zeppelin with Strings" thing and has his own band. It was really hard trying to find someone who wasn't going to try to change everything I've built myself up on all this time. And I'm a firm believer in there being more than one way to do something on a guitar (unlike a lot of 'teachers' I've met.) He has a clip of one of his songs on the School's website. (http://austinschoolofmusic.com/faculty.html) Just scroll through the faculty list and find Glenn Rexach. Pretty cool bluesy tune.

Bass guitar corner

Well, since that video thread started turing into a gear discussion, I figured I'd start a new thread for other bassists to geek out in with me. Steve keeps threatening to start a guitar clinic thread, but as far as I can see, his brother frequents the forum more than he does, that's right Fish, I'm calling you out buddy! ;)

Anyway, the bass I'm building now: the neck is one I had my old bass teacher make to my specs years ago. The pickups are Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder Precision. The body is an alder Mockingbird that they're carving up for me at the Warmoth factory. It will also feature Hip Shot ultra light machines including a D-tuner to switch between drop D & standard E. The piece de resistance is a Hip Shot tremelo. It's something I've been wanting for awhile and there are actually a few songs where I had to do some old fashioned Jake E Lee machine head dives where it would have been much simpler to take it down with the trem. Besides, why should lead guitarists have all the whammy fun?

And Resonance, as for what kind of basses I prefer, I've owned and played Fender P basses, a Spectre, a B.C. Rich Mockingbird, an old Kramer, a Washburn acoustic, an Aria Explorer, probably some I'm forgetting. At the moment my main basses are a Fender American Jazz Sunset Orange finish which is super classy and traditional except for the custom knobs and a blue Yamaha SBV500 which is very lightweight for stage but growls nicely in the studio.

Looking for a bass amp head.

Since I know some people don't really look at the general area..

I recently aquired a cab of Trace Elliot 4x10's and I'm trying to find a decent head for it for around 200-300 bucks. I just spend nearly 1000 for my Aguilar G412 so I'm low on the cash.

If anyone is selling or knows of anyone selling and Trace Elliot, Hartke, Carvin, or SWR Working Man heads I'd appreciate it. I've been looking for a TE head to go with it but I can't seem to find any of the older vintage ones. So now I'm just trying to scrape up what I can get.

.. I got lucky today.. I was at a garage sale and this guy had these TE 4x10's for 75 BUCKS!!!! I almost crapped myself. It looks like an early 90's model.. but eithe way.. it works and is in really nice condish. If anyone could help me on this.. I would love to find a head for this thing.. Carrying around all of my big equipment to practice and stuff.. lets just put it this way... It's not fun... I'd like to have something I can just leave at my buddy's house and this looks like the deal.
