OK, so these guys are not truly progressive, nor technical.  But I didn't want this thread to be buried in OTHER METAL.  I think Silent Force is mostly power metal with some progressive overtones.  They play pretty fast with soaring guitars and vocals and lots of double bass but nothing seems repititive.

Silent Force currently have 3 albums out.  Empire of Future came first, Infatuator second, and Worlds Apart was released in 2004.  Of those 3 Infatuator is my favorite.  It has a killer rendition of Judas Priest's All Guns Blazing.  DC Cooper can hit high notes just like Halford.  In fact, he auditioned for the band after Halford left.

Anyway, Guitaris Alex Beyrodt is a fine player.  He has speed and agility on the frets.  I can't say enough about this band.  They are very underrated, IMHO.

If you want to check out specific songs before jumping in with both feet I recommend the following:

From Empire of Future: Empire of Future, New Experiment, Broken Wings

From Infatuator: Infatuator, Fall into Oblivion, Hear Me Calling, All Guns Blazing, The Blade

From Worlds Apart: No One Lives Forever, Death Comes in Disguise, Master of My Destiny, Merry Minstrel

Happy hunting!!

Forgot to add that this post was at the request of Bare since he had never heard any of their music.  They are currently in the studio working on album #4.

Yes, I believe they do have some samples up. Go to the multimedia page and scroll all the down to the bottom. Check out Infatuator and Hear Me Calling. Those 2 were my introduction to the band.
Hope you like it!!

I checked out the song samples...    Damn, that dude can shred on the guitar!!

Vocals are filled with harmony...

Definitely Power Metal... but some really ripping guitars...

P.S. I created a Power Metal forum, if you'd like to move this over there

This band is added to my To-Buy list..  Thanks voodoo!!

Glad you liked what you heard.  You are correct, the guy can shred.  I hear some Malmsteen in him but without the arrogance.

I can't believe that this band is not more popular.
