| An acoustic for a beginner I wouldn't go into to high a $$ range. Ovations are great but the rounded body takes a while to get used to .That guitar is strictly a performers guitar .Sounds excellent and plays great but I think You'd be well off with a Yamaha or a newer brand. I just went to Sam Ash and got a great deal on a 12 string acoustic from carlo robelli an extension of brownsville guitars and it's a nice acoustic plus the 6 strings were decent as well. you can check em out here http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?ItemID=38331&SourceType=BestSeller I would stick to something under 200 bucks for now .At least till u get used to an acoustic.I'd hate for u to spend so much and then just have it sit there. Cuz I remember when I was starting out . I'd jam on it for a bit But I'd always get back to my electric..I just love distortion ..lol

| Yeha don't get an Ovation... they're too expensive for what they are... (i don't like them, but that doesn't mean they're bad guitars). Do what DZ said, get a Yamaha or a smaller newer company, make sure it's a steel string (they're harder to play, thus they improve your playing ten-fold), and buy a medium guage string, not a light, otherwise you'll take forever to decide what type of string you like. I learned on an old yamaha eterna acoustic, i still have it, and still play it. I beat the shit out of that guitar and she still sings beautifully. plus they're only 175 canadian brand new.
