Comedian George Carlin dies at 71 Anti-Establishment icon gained fame with his ‘Seven Dirty Words’ routine LOS ANGELES - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.
Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters. Known for his edgy, provocative material, Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine called “Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television.” A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of the routine ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court. In the 1978 case, Federal Communications Commission vs. Pacifica Foundation, the top U.S. court ruled that the words cited in Carlin’s routine were indecent, and that the government’s broadcast regulator could ban them from being aired at times when children might be listening. Carlin’s comedic sensibility often came back to a central theme: humanity is doomed. “I don’t have any beliefs or allegiances. I don’t believe in this country, I don’t believe in religion, or a god, and I don’t believe in all these man-made institutional ideas,” he told Reuters in a 2001 interview. Carlin, who wrote several books and performed in many television comedy specials, is survived by his wife Sally Wade, and daughter Kelly Carlin McCall. RIP George. You will definitely be missed.

That's unfortunate...it doesn't surprise me that it was from heart failure though.

| Meanwhile, Fred Phelps not only refuses to die, but.... http://www.godhatesfags.com/written/fliers/20080624_carlin-in-hell.pdf My blood went on full boil reading that flier. I can't understand why nobody's torched that church yet, preferably with all the adult members trapped inside, or set Fred and/or that psycho cunt daughter of his up for a head shot with a high powered rifle- a 50 caliber will do quite nicely. Of course throwing that whole "church" into a large arena with some hungry lions would be good too. I've also read several fundie comment on Fundies Say The Darndest Things that Carlin's in Hell, while saying that Jeffrey Dahmer is in Heaven because "Dahmer accepted Christ". Like these fundies forgot the whole "Judge not" thing that Jesus said. Let's see, according to them, a person who never harmed anyone and made us laugh and think is in Hell, while a serial killer is in Heaven? I'm not so sure I'd want to go to Heaven if that's the case- I'd have an eternal case of the creeps being around the likes of Dahmer. I'm thinking of trying to get Varg Vikernes' email address and asking him for advice on the best way to burn down the WBC.
