Massachusetts heavy hitters THE ACACIA STRAIN have posted a brand new song, “Skynet,” on the band’s official MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/theacaciastrain) to celebrate the launch of pre-orders for the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Continent,’ now available online in five different, exclusive packages here (http://www.prostheticrecords.com/TASsplash.html). The first 400 pre-orders will come with an autographed 11”x17” poster featuring album artwork by Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord, Trivium). “Skynet” is the lead track from ‘Continent’ and is slated to be shot for a music video shortly; more details on that will be available soon. “‘Skynet’ is a band favorite,” vocalist Vincent Bennett says of the band’s new track. “We figured we should debut some of our ‘different’ tracks so when people pick up the album they are totally confused.”

Scheduled for an August 19 release through Prosthetic Records, ‘Continent’ is THE ACACIA STRAIN’s fourth full-length release and again features artwork from Romano who also supplied artwork for the band’s 2006 release, ‘The Dead Walk,’ and audio production from Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, God Forbid). The band recently completed a successful headlining tour across America with support from All Shall Perish, The Warriors and Since The Flood, culminating in a hometown show this past weekend in Holyoke, Mass. which was filmed for an upcoming DVD release in the future. THE ACACIA STRAIN will take a few days off at home before departing again for Europe alongside Annotations of An Autopsy and Knights of the Abyss.

"Technically adept, and perhaps even challenging to the unseasoned metal listener, The Dead Walk is clearly the strongest effort to date from New England scene stars The Acacia Strain." - Alternative Press magazine

"It's The Acacia Strain's rationale that makes them somewhat of a standout: there isn't an established category called "Heavy As Fuck." - Unrestrained! magazine

"It could be one of the big extreme releases of the year...the guys have streamlined their sound and their lineup, creating a solid disc heavy on breakdowns and with no shortage of metal riffs all over the place." - Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles magazine

"Think the oppressive groove of Mastodon with the stodgy beats of Throwdown, and the hellish screams of your childhood nightmares. This is the sort of noise that makes dogs whimper, mountains shudder, babies cry and your mates dance - all at the same time." - Metal Hammer magazine

"Quite clearly the art of sophisticated bloodthirsty tech metal is entering a new renaissance period and it is albums like this that are leading the charge." - The PRP
