I have my eye on a 42 inch Phillips LCD for $999.

Also considering a 40 inch Samsung LCD from Circuit City for $899.

I'm leaning towards the Phillips because it is larger and it's a 1080p. Both have 3 HDMI inputs, btw. Thoughts? What do y'all have?

I have a 55 inch, high definition, rear projection, Sony TV.  I love it!  The rear projection was simply a necessity for where I needed to position the TV.  The LCD and the 1080p is a step up from mine.  It should be absolutely fantastic.  If you haven't owned a high-definition TV, you are in for a treat.  There is nothing like a sporting event in high-definition.

I have a Samsung DLP 50in. "Ultra Thin". 1080p. I like it quite a bit. I think I got it for about $1500 last August.

It's got 3 HDMI ports and it's got a computer port, so I've hooked up my laptop to the big screen on a few occasions. The inputs for it are all on the side instead of in the back, which I really like. It was the only TV Best Buy had that was designed that way. It's much easier to get to all the plug-ins. It's not a flat-screen but it's very thin and light compared to other DLPs, and I didn't have to pay the flat screen premium.

The only thing that sucks is that my HDMI DVD player quit putting out sound when it's connected via HDMI and I don't feel like buying another HDMI player right now since blu-ray/PS3 is the way to go. So I'm just watching stuff with component cables for now, but I have high hopes for something blu-ray soon.

Recently, we moved our 32" LCD downstairs & moved the 42" plasma upstairs... Amazing!!!!! Why did we ever reduce that wonderful tv to strictly Guitar Hero?
