| On Wednesday night i had the pleasure of seeing Dream Theater live. The concert went for 3 hours with a 15minute intermission. In front of a packed pavillion of nearly 1,000 people Dream Theater opened with constant motion. The set covered most of there career although they played nothing from there debut alum & i was suprised they played nothing from Inner Turbulence. The album which got a lot of play was from Systemetic Chaos. The encore was As i am & Pull me under which after the guitar solo was changed into the 2nd half of metropolis. The biggest reaction of the night was for Spirit carries on. I was suprised that only Jordan had a solo to at which time he bounded around`stage with his guitar shaped keyboard. Also John Myung got the biggest pop of the night when he played his bass part 4 metropolis. When they plyed Take the time Mike sang the first section of the song be4 james took over. Every guy in the band was in fine form. James vocals are brilliant,way better live than in the studio & at times if u had a glass nearby it would have been shattered as he got his voice to go as high as it could. Mike Portnoys drumming is just something that has to be seen to be believed......the guy is a monster on the drumkit. Jordan is a wizard of the keyboard & u get the feeling that most of what dream theater does is centered around him. John Myung never let up while playing bass & was suprised by how much he moved around. What can u say about John Petrucci..........words cant describe how great a guitar player this guy is. It will be a while before i experience someting like dream theater live again. They opened my eyes & my mind with there musical experience live & it is something i will never forget for sometime.........or until they tour again.

I've seen DT twice and I was not disappointed either time. They really know how to put on a show. All members are among the best at their respective instrument and it really shows in a live setting. I'm glad they finally made it to Australia. I'm also extremely jealous because I haven't seen them since the Train of Thought tour.
They are an incredible live band. Not flawless (no one is) but it matters not. Killer band, no doubt about it.
As long as I got Rock n Roll I'm forever young

I'm not too big a fan of Rudess' style, but it definitely makes sense that he would be one of the main focusses in the band. He is one of the best musicians out there.
