It's really quiet around here folks....

Just doing a rolecall for Sunday.

If anyone will be at the show, Sunday chime in and let us know how psysched you are!!

Nice weekend for a road trip and whens the last time you saw the Toys play outdoors in downtown Austin?

Oh yeah, did we mention around sunset you can watch a million bats fly out from under the bridge?

Peace!

I am deeply jealous of your ability to attend this wonderful event...

Please post your reviews of the show

I was at Bat Fest. Man It was awsome! After the show, I got to talk to Scott Dalhover. I shook his hand, and got two pictures of him with me and my brother. I even got a pick from him. He said "I got guitar straps older than you guys."

They played:
Teasin' Pleasin
Scared
Bones in The Gutter
Take Me Drunk
Sportin' A Woody
Queen Of The Nile
Outlaw
Ten Boots
That Dog
Gunfighter
Gimme No Lip
Sugar, Leather, and the Nail
Pissed
Share The Kill (I think it was, I don't own Pissed or R*cist)
I think I'm missing a song, but that's all I remember.

They tried to end with Teasin Pleasin, but the guy next to me started chanting "Stay! Stay!" so I joined him. Then everybody else started chanting. It was cool. So, then they did Scared.

That list looks pretty close. Not in that order, but pretty close.

I know they did Line 'Em Up also.

The show was great. The toys were the whole reason we went to Batfest.

It was actually introducing a new generation of my family to the Toys.

I had my wife, 4 of my boys (22, 14, 12, and 11), and 1 granson (15) there. And right up close to the stage too!

They were in heaven. We stuck around and met with the guys afterwards. They were all great.

We got pictures and autographs from those that weren't too swamped by everyone else.

I wanted to say thanks to all of them for taking the time.

The only thing that was lacking, was the Toys Merch! Not a thing there.

I had 4 boys that wanted shirts to remember their first Toys concert.

I might have to settle for the 18th aniv. shirts and just order them.

On a side note, a big thanks to the guys in Rhino Bucket also. They were great as well, and stuck around and signed CDs and such.

I too was at the show and can confirm, it was a rockin' show and fun was had by all.

One thing I have not heard anyone mention is how many people were there.  I would estimate there were easily thousands in attendance for the show.  I would say upwards of 3000 people attended the show.  Jason at one point remarked how it was unofficially their 19th anniversary and that he wanted to know if all these people were going to show up for the next 20th anniversary at the Red Eyed Fly.

There were tons of kids running around at the show, and all age levels.  Batfest is on the congress bridge, which really made for a memorable night.  I guess there was a delay before Rhinobucked took the stage, as storms threatened to call the whole thing off.  Almost miraculously, the rain stopeed and the storms cleared for a few hours and both the Bucket and Toyse were able to do full sets.  Oh yeah, there was a wedding in between the gigs.  How Spinal Tap is that!

I felt ripped off that it was the Batfest, and my drunk ass managed to not see a single bat.  Not sure how I managed to do that.

I will definitely try to attend this event next year, and hope the promoters do us a favor and rebook the Toys!!

Well besides a little rain and a bunch of Bats it was all very Cool. I had a blast as the Toys cranked out a Killer show. Jason was incredible ,Proving once again why he is Texas's elite frontman, juggling duties between Broken teeth,Dangerous Toys, Sad,wing (Judas Priest tribute band) and still finding time to sing in a RUSH tribute project with Mike Portnoy, Paul Gilbert, and Sean Malone (Cygnus And The Sea Monsters - One Night In Chicago)

AND to top it off he also led the way with Texas Metals Finest band . WATCHTOWER .

The show started out with the usual shaky TECH problems but as soon as the soundman cleared it up we got a full dose of TOYS. Ive seen Jason so many times and i know his vocals so as they opened up the show with "Gunfighter" I could still hear his voice getting used to the Toys Range. By his 3rd song he was in full TOYS force. I remember asking him how he could keep his voice fit for each style of music that he does and it was his response that floored me he said "I just do it every day I keep my instrument tuned and I sing every day and keep it in shape cuz I Love doing it."

If only as many singers could say that about their love for what they do.BY the End of the show he was Cranking out "Scared" and Nailing every scream in that song like the pro he is. The rest of the band was just as Impressive with Scott adding some pretty cool Licks in before the intro for Teasn .. and they even broke into a BIT of MAIDEN during one of their song breaks .. I believe it was during "gimme no lip". The fans got a chance to kick in their Part during the last song as Jason had the whole crowd chanting along the chorus.

Overall the band was as good as they have ever been.. Not once in over a dozen shows that i have been to have they ever dissapointed. Rhino Bucket was Impressive as well With a very solid Back line in their bassist and drummer. An AC\DC sounding Rock band who have some great songs. My only complaint was the Beer NO  DAMN BUD BEER AT ALL. seems that Auistin is Miller country. MGD or Highlife . Well they did have Zeiganbach and Fosters BUT at 6 bucks a can i figured id stick to the Miller lite ..lol. BUT even that Ran out . BUnch of wild crazy ass TOYS fans drank up all the beer before the show ended. Guess It would not be a real Show with out killing the kegs huh //LOL

Lots of cool stuff being sold also at the bat fest almost all "Bat" related in some way or the other. BAT necklaces, jewelry, shirts , toys , wands, even Shot glasses . You name it ,they had it .Lots of stuff for the kids to , Pony rides and balloon bouncers plus much more.

Besides The rain and Humidity and the Beer, ALL in All I had a blast.

THANKS To the Band for another Great Show !! CANT wait for the BIG 2-0 !!!!!

20 years !!!!!!!!! fucking A !!
